Chapter 1

Ryan was walking to school, scrolling through his phone, reading about the virus that's currently spreading. As he approached his school, 20 minutes later, he stepped into the classroom, making his way to the back of the class to take his seat. Suddenly, the teacher entered, not far behind Ryan - and she was full of blood, collapsing to the floor dead. Everyone rushed to her body in shock and confusion. "Someone call 911!" shouted Ryan, but the girl next to him quickly responded. "I'm trying, but there's no service!" Ryan nervously enquired, "So what can we do?". Just then, a kid uttered "She's waking up-" before the teacher bit his throat out. Everyone panicked and ran in confusion, as the teacher stood and chased some of the kids. Ryan was frozen to the spot as the teacher moved closer towards him, ready to bite, when suddenly another teacher appeared out of nowhere, crushing the strange being's head with a broken glass bottle. They shouted in unison "Run! There's more coming outside, stay with your classmates!"

Ryan had come to a crossroad and chose to take the left path, but when he got there, the city was in chaos. As he tried to figure out what to do, Ryan spotted a bike and thought his luck had changed for the better. But upon closer inspection, he realized there were no keys to start the bike. "shit, shit, shit," he cursed, frustrated. Then, out of nowhere, one of the monsters from the city started sprinting towards him. Ryan managed to dodge it just in time, but not before witnessing it smash its own head on the ground. "God, I wish that was tomato sauce," he breathed, shaken. After cautiously making his way out of the city, he noticed that the monsters were surprisingly slow. Suddenly, a bus drove out, with the driver calling for Ryan to get in. "Hurry, get in!" Ryan followed his instructions, but as he got in, he saw there were four other passengers already inside.

As Ryan took his seat, he noticed that everyone had their own weapon to protect themselves. His heart raced as he wondered if any of these people posed a danger to him. Suddenly, a man seated himself next to Ryan and said, "Hello, I'm Josh."

"I'm Ryan," he replied. Josh went on to explain, "This driver here is taking us away from the city because of the 'Killeds’ - creatures that like to kill and eat. That's why everyone has weapons - for self-protection."

Though Ryan was scared, he was thankful for Josh's company in this strange and frightening situation. He just hoped that their journey would end without any dangerous encounters.
