They can't be serious about the arrangement. How am I supposed to protect a woman I don't even know with my life? Although our families are friends.
I never met the girl. All my life I just heard her name from my family and friends complimenting how attractive, sweet and beautiful she was but nothing else. Once even my brother told me that she was my type of girl but I just ignored him.
I was just sitting with my brother Nick in my office as he tells me the news that the Maverick family wants me to protect their daughter from the unknown threat that has been targeting their family.
I am not happy with this and Nick knows it "So what are you going to do" he asked.
"Nothing" I am just going to ignore this like I didn't hear it from anyone. I know my parents will try to convince me since Maverick is my father's best friend since high school.
"But you know how dad loves Elizie. She is like a daughter to him" Nick tells me. I just look at him as he tells me this then I move to stand near the window staring at the outside view of the garden that my mother loves and taking care of it like those flowers are human.
"I don't care what dad thinks" I sigh "I am too busy to deal with a woman right now," I said. I don't know why they want me to be the one protecting her and not my brothers.
"But why don't you want to protect Elizie, she is sweet I swear you are going to like her when you meet " he smirks.
I just look at him and then leave the office because I know what that smirk means trouble.
