Regret Of Death

“Mommmmmmy.” I called. She didn’t answer. “MOMMMY.”

“WHAT.” She yelled back at me. I shivered, she always has a nasty attitude towards me. I’m only 8, it’s not my fault.

“Can you get me some lunch please?? I’m hungry!” my stomach growled.

“Get it yourself Kyah!” Mom yelled back at me.

’I CAN’T.” I started crying, why didn’t she understand.

“I’ll help you.” my brother Jordan walked into my room and shut the door, “Don’t mind her, something got her pissed off.”

I jumped up to hug my brother, I swear he was more of a parent to me then my own mother was. And I didn’t have a father figure either, so he was the closest I had to that.

“So what do you want?” Jordan asked me, he picked me up and put me on his back.

“Uhm, I don’t know.” I said. “What do we have?”

“Come on.” Jordan walked downstairs singing a song to me.

I giggled. He set me upside down on the couch and tickled me. “Come on Kyah.”

I popped up and went running to the fridge. “Can I have a sanich?”

“Sandwich.” Jordan corrected me.

“Yea that! Pleaseeeeeeeeee.” I pleaded.

“Sure princess.” Jordan grabbed some stuff out of the fridge and he went to the counter.

“YAYYYYYY.” I gave him a hug and went to get my water in my room. “I’ll be back!”

Walking upstairs I could hear something, it sounded like it was coming from my room. I peeked my head in and saw Mom. I sighed, “What are you doing?”

“Uhm, nothing.” She ran out of my room, and then I heard a door slam shut. I sighed, whatever. I grabbed my water bottle and walked downstairs.

Jordan was sitting at the table eating his sandwich, mine was sitting next to him. I smiled “Thanks Jor.”

He nodded and took a bite of his sandwich. We didn’t talk much, just once and awhile. “Jor?”

“Hm?” He looked up at me.

“Can we get a lock or security cameras or something for my room? Mom was in it and she was rooting through my stuff.”

“Of course dear, we can go after we eat okay?”

I nodded and cleared my dish. I ran into the living room and grabbed my shoes. Jordan came after me and grabbed his shoes, putting them on and he grabbed his keys off the counter.

“We’re going to the store Mom!” And we got no response. Jordan shrugged and walked out the door, “Come on.”

I ran to the car and grabbed the door handle, shaking it wildly I opened the door and hopped into my car seat.

We drove to the store, and lucky us we didn’t get stopped by anybody or any lights.

When we got home, Jordan and I went up to my room and he changed my doorknob to something that takes my fingerprint. It’s pretty fancy.

I flopped on my bed and pulled out my ipad. I played a game while I listened to Jordan talk to someone on the phone.

I walked out of my room and down the hallway to Jordan’s room. “Jordan?” I knocked on his door and walked in.

“Hold up babe.” Jordan put down his phone, “Yes?” he looked up at me.

“Who are you talking to?” I asked and sat on his desk.

“I’m talking to my girlfriend.” Jordan said, his face turned red.

“Can I meet her? Please? I wanna meet her? Is she nice? What school does she go to? Is she pretty? How old is she? When did you start liking her? What’s her name?” I rattled off 100 questions.

“Hey! Hey!” Jordan started laughing. “Yes you can meet her, she’s gonna come over in a few minutes.”

I got up from his desk and did a happy dance. “I have to go get my stuffed animals!!” I hopped up and ran down the hallway. I could hear Jordan laughing and then he hung up the phone.

I heard the doorbell ring about 10 minutes later and I heard a sweet voice ringing from downstairs. I set down my stuffed animals and ran downstairs.

Jordan turned around and smiled. “Kyah, this is Azie.”

Azie smiled, she had pretty white teeth and long brown hair. Her eyes were a beautiful green with gray hues. She was wearing a blue tank top with cute white shorts.

I smiled, “hi!”

“Hey Kyah! How are you?”

“I..uhm..uh.. I’m good!” I laughed, apparently she makes me nervous.

Azie smiled at me and Jordan said he was going to give her a tour of the house. Just then Mom walked down the stairs and screamed. “Who is this?”

Jordan sighed and rolled his eyes, “Mom, stop screaming for one, and two, this is Azie. She’s my girlfriend.”

Azie was standing next to Jordan and I and she smiled at Mom. Mom just stared at Azie and then walked back upstairs and shut the door.

“Well..” Jordan laughed awkwardly and took Azie by the hand.

“Kyah.” Jordan turned to me, “Go turn on a movie, I’ll come with Azie and watch it in a few.”

“Okay!” I smiled and walked to the living room. Sitting down on the couch I grabbed the remote and flipped the TV on.

I scrolled through the channels not really finding anything good. I sat there and waited for Jordan and Azie to come down so they could find something better.

Jordan and Azie came down and they were laughing about something. I popped up from behind the couch cushion. “There isn’t anything good on.”

Azie looked at me and smiled, “That’s okay, what do you want to watch?”

I thought about it for a minute, “Can we watch something I’ve seen 100 times?”

Azie laughed, “Sure. What is it?”

“Lady and The Tramp!” I laughed.

We sat on the couch and started watching the movie. My eyes closed, and before I knew it, I was asleep.
