Chapter one: An undignified exit
Only after the airplane took off could I let myself relax…
Somehow I never planned for the eventuality that someone will come looking for me, like a fool I thought I was safe, so my hasty departure was chaotic and quite undignified.
I just grabbed my passport and some cash, stuffed some clothes into a bag, said an incoherent goodbye to Rusty, who ran my bar (that I called Rusty’s for some reason), and got to the airport.
On the plane I took a swig of whiskey from my hipflask while I waited for drinks to be served, I couldn’t wait… My nerves were shot.
I realise that some of you may be quite confused right now, so I’ll recap what happened that lead me to be here, on this plane, fleeing my retirement. Or you could read all about it yourself in my cleverly titled adventure Blackthorne.
