Summary

All I've ever known in my life is sadness and pain. Ever since the moment I opened my eyes. I remember the look my mother had as she held me in her arms. Unlike most babies, I didn't cry when I was born. Instead I let out the sweetest giggle. The nurses just couldn't understand why my parents didn't love me or rather why they looked like it. They didn't do much for me growing up and eventually took me to an orphanage saying they couldn't deal with things they didnt want. As this dark-haired amber-eyed and chocolate-skinned lady looked back at me in the mirror, I could see the pain she went through in her eyes. But that day as I looked at my reflection I promised myself that I would make everything right. I would give myself the perfect life. I didn't need a family or friends - even though I at least have some of those. I would make it , all on my own.

1.New life

I got up earlier than normal. I had to start packing. I walked through the halls of the orphanage that I have called home for 13 years. As per the rules of the establishment once a child has turned 18 they would have to leave and make a life of their own.

It was my turn to continue this order but I was pleasantly surprised by how sad the nuns seemed to be. They told me that they wished I could stay but I had to start a life of my own.

"Meybell! "the head nun called out." Are you ready to go?"

"Yes I am sister Mary,"I answered. But the truth was I was scared. I didn't know where I would stay or what I would work as. As if she could read my mind sister Mary told me that they had already rented a flat on my behalf. That solved one problem.

I got into the car with all my belongings and prepared to leave. None of the other orphans seemed to notice that I was leaving. Either they didn't care about my absense or they were just hiding their emotions - most likely the former.

We arrived at the flat after an hour of driving . It was nice and simple and I figured maybe I would grow to like this place . The driver helped me unload my stuff then told me that they would check up on me every month for a few months .

My flat was at the top floor and that was much to my dislike. I had a bad fear of heights and so I would have to avoid the balcony. But the inside was cute . The wooden floors and doors were both white which apparently was my favourite colour. It was a studio but I was okay with anything at that point as long as I was on my own .

It was ready furnished so all I had to do was arrange my clothes in the closet.

My next task was to get a job so I would be able to save up and go to university next year. There were tons of cafes in the area but none had vacancies. But luckily for me there was a restaurant nearby that needed a new waitress. I went and applied for the job and was told I would be notified by the management by the next day.

I went back to my flat ando put on Netflix on the TV.

What a wonderful start to my life alone.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
