Chapter 1
“I need to get dressed since we are going to the movies tonight.”, Juliette excitedly announced.
Her closest pal answered, “Alright! We’ll talk on Monday
Juliette hangs up and heads to her room. She is a charming woman in her mid-thirties who works in a public library. As she stands in front of the mirror, dressed for the evening, she recalls a pearl necklace that her husband had given her. But she can’t remember where she put it, so she searches the entire house for it. She eventually finds it, but she becomes dizzy
“It must be because of the rush”, she gasped.
She attempts to put on the necklace after sitting for a bit but is met with excruciating pain in her chest.
It’s a beautiful Sunday evening. The sun has already set at this moment, so the sky is pinkish and filled with dark grey clouds. There’s an open-air restaurant in town that is famous for its aesthetics. The restaurant’s owner, a passionate chef, looks out his window at the sky because it appears to be raining. He watches the view of his restaurant as raindrops slowly touch the wooden tables and empty chairs of his restaurant. The view is surreal, as if from a movie. The rain and the scenery reminded him of his love. He pulls out his phone and calls her, but his gaze is drawn to the crowd gathered on the road, so he hangs up
“What took place?”, Chef enquired of the passing stranger.
The stranger gasped and hurried towards the body with the chef, shouting “Blood! Blood!”
Chef spotted a young man lying on the pavement. He had stunning blue eyes and was coated in blood. The blood was running on the road after mixing with the precipitation. Everyone was in a panic. The chef first calls an ambulance, then opens and unlocks the young man’s phone with his thumb. He then uses his phone to call his most recent contact. It was saved under the name Mary. She did not answer the phone. When the ambulance arrives, the young man is taken to the hospital.
The young man was severely injured, so he was operated on immediately. He had 18 stitches in his brow. He was resting on the bed after the operation.
“How are you feeling now, Keith?” asked the nurse.
Keith slowly opens his eyes and requests that the nurse call Mary (his girlfriend). Mary had already received the news from the chef and arrived at the hospital at that point.
“Keith!!” exclaimed Mary.
Keith smiles and feels relieved as he looks at her.
“I’m such a moron that I should have answered the phone even though I was busy. I could have arrived sooner”, she continues
“shh..”, Keith stated
“I’m just glad you’re here now”, he added.
Mary exits the room to get him his medications. It’s around 10 p.m., and she starts walking and considers all that has just happened. She is a lawyer, so she is always busy with her work and had begun to take their relationship for granted, so she feels guilty about this and vows to make time for everyone who was close to her when she returns to the hospital.
“I was waiting for you; I’m bored here,” Keith explained.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be discharged tomorrow morning,” Mary said.
“I can’t wait to go home with you,” Keith said.
The sky had now darkened. It was after 10 p.m. Because it was late, the chef decides to leave the restaurant. On his way home, he was thinking about what had happened and wanted to tell his love about it.
He arrived at his residence. He knocks on the door, but no one answers. He dials his wife’s number, but no one answers. Outside, he could hear the phone ring. He becomes concerned and screams, but no one responds, so he enters his house through a window that was luckily open and finds his love.
Juliette was found dead on the floor, holding the phone in one hand and a pearl necklace in the other.
