Luna POV

The whistles of the birds and the beautiful sunlight piercing through my windows woke me up this morning. Well at least it's not my goddamn Alarm.

"Luna, come downstairs you receive an email"Mom screamed and I rushed downstairs in excitement.

Crossing my finger and hoping it was the good news I was expecting.

It has always been me and my mom. Dad left when I was three and Mom was left to take care of both of us. Mom was also young but she did it for both of us.

"Are you excited to see if you got in?"Mom asked.

Well part of me is excited and part of me is scared."I replied with a Frown.

"Why are you sad baby"Mom was patting my hair.

"I am sad because I don't want to go off another state leaving you alone here"

Damn it. I was so happy when I was applying and right now, here I was chickening out at the very last minute.

"Well, baby you don't have to be sad. It's not like you are leaving forever. You can always take a flight if you miss me and I can always do the same."She said she hugged me.

"If this is going to make you happy, you should do it without hesitation."

"But what about you? You will be alone in this house without any company not to talk of the time difference"

"Who says I will be alone"I looked at her in confusion and she winked at me.

"Oh my Goodness. Mom are you seeing someone?"Mom looked at me bushing. I haven't seen mom blushing in a while.

"I knew it. That's why you have been so secretive lately" I screamed in excitement.

"Well maybe, "Mom said while playing with the Rubix's cube on the table.

"But, I haven't been secretive. Just because you didn't catch on doesn't mean I am secretive"

"Anyways who is the unlucky one?"I laughed and she rolled her eyes.

"Just kidding mom anyone will be lucky to have you, "I said hugging her.

"Can we stop focusing on me and let's open the mail? I promise you will meet him soon but note he is someone you are already familiar with and it kind of just happened."

I sighed. She is right I need to focus on my admission letter. I sat on one of the stools and focus on my laptop screen.

"Moment of truth," I said unlocking my laptop and going through my emails. I opened it and logged in to the website.

"Mom I got in I got in"I screamed in excitement as mom hugged me. We hugged each other crying for minutes.

"I am so proud of you baby. You did it. You are going to California."Mom said in tears.

We cried for about 30 minutes. It has always been my and my mom's dream for me to go to UC Berkeley and I just got in, it is very exciting and I am very excited for the future.

"Okay enough of the tears. let's start preparing for this great journey" Mom chuckled and I smiled.

I dialed my best friend's number. She got admission into NYU so we won't be together.

"Hello bitch. I got in. I fucking got into UC Berkeley. I am going to California"I screamed in excitement.

"Luna language"Mom rolled her eyes at me and I mumbled sorry.

I am eager about this new chapter of my life.

"I told you you were going to get in"Autumn speaks from the other side of the phone while I walked upstairs to my room. Mom was right I should begin packing

"I know but I am going to miss you. Let's hang out for the remaining day of summer okay" I said. I want to spend the rest of the days with Autumn.

"Alright Alright let's do that. Should we take a little trip"

"To where exactly, "I asked her

"To the lake. I know a resort there we can spend like two weeks then you spend the rest of the weeks with your mom"

"Sure let's do that. When are we going?"

"Let's go in 2 days so I can get ready"

Alright. Talk to you later. love You."I said and hung up the phone.

"Mom I am going to the lake with Autumn" I screamed from my room.

"Okay" she screamed back at me and I began to pack some of my things.

The rest of the day went as a blur and it was finally the day of my trip with Autumn

Mom, I am ready to go see you in two weeks or less" I said and we both laughed.

Mom knows how bored I easily become on trips like this after like 4 to 5 days except if they are fun activities.

"Alright Luna have fun and call me when you get there, "Mom said

"Okay Mom" we hugged and I went outside.

Autumn was waiting outside for me

"Hi Aut," I said hugging her. "What's the plan for these two weeks," I asked getting into her car and buckling my seat belt.

"Well you know how much I love organization so this is a detailed picture of the activities in store for us, "She said handing me a book.

Autumn loves organizing. It has always been her thing since we were in elementary school while I on the other hand, just act on impulse. Whatever comes to my mind, Whenever, Wherever is what I do. I like to say I act before I think and she thinks before she acts. You see opposite attracts. Ha

"This is one of the things I will miss about you. Who is going to be organizing my activities" I sniffed pretending to be in tears

"Ha very funny. Don't worry my friend I can always help you organize your activities just send me your schedule" She said chuckling.

"This is why you are my best friend" I hugged her

"Yeah yeah whatever now let me focus on driving please you are going to get us killed"

"Alright Boss," I said smiling and played some music in the car

We got to the resort in no time and settled in. It was actually beautiful. I just hope Autumn activities are not boring and tiring.

"Right our first activity is hiking. I really want to go hiking"

"Ugh, if I know that I will be stressed out I will sit down at home," I said jokingly laughing as Autumn dragged me out of bed.

The rest of the summer when by in a blur and it was finally the moment I was dreading. Mom wanted to drive me to California and see get settled there before coming back home, Autumn offered to escort us and here we are driving to California and listening to music. At first ,it was sad but on second thought, I still have a few more hours with them so why not enjoy it

🎤🎶"Oh don't you dare look back, just keep your eyes on me, I said you are holding back she said shut up and dance with me. This woman is my destiny, I say oh oh oh shut up and dance with me"I and Autumn scream at top of our voices.

"I guess the both of you still love this music. It has been your go-to music forever"Mom said steering the wheels

"Yep," we both said and laughed.

"That's nice and this is nice. Taking a long drive. Just the three of us like other times"Mom said chuckling.

After spending like 2 days on the way with various stopovers we finally got to Berkeley California

"Mom why don't you drop the car for me uh you and Aut can take the plane and then buy a new one," I said taking my box from the car.

Damn, there are a lot of people here. The anxiety is creeping in.

"Maybe next time Luna," Mom said assisting me and I rolled my eyes.

Mom doesn't want me to drive at all even though I have my driver's license.

"So what's your dorm number," Autumn asked

"I think it's 301, "I said while Mom and Autumn helped me settle in.

After an hour, we were done with the arrangement and it was time for mom and Autumn to leave

"Well, this is it, Luna. You are on your own"Sue hugged me in tears and Autumn joined us in the hug.

"I am going to miss you, Luna,"Autumn said sobbing.

"Me too Autumn. You guys should call often"I said in tears and she nodded

After our little moment, Mom and Autumn left Berkeley leaving me alone to face my fate............
