Chapter One

The Little Girl

“No, please stop. She’s too young. She’ll die. Let me take her place. With me being sick, I won’t bring in any money. Please, let me take her punishment.” The chains slackened on the girl’s wrists, and she fell to the ground. The carpet was crusty and covered in stains. The older girl picked up the younger one and limped out of the room with her. The room they enter was only big enough for a full-sized mattress. The older girl placed the girl on the mattress. Then the teen brushes the younger girl’s hair from her forehead and kisses it.

“I need you to stay here. I’ll be back when I can, but I need you to promise me that you’ll keep breathing. No matter what they do to you, or how bad anyone hurts you, you can survive anything as long as you keep breathing okay?” The small girl with black curls nodded. There were tears in the other girl’s green eyes before she limped out of the room. The little girl’s back was sticky with drying blood. She laid on her side, waiting for the older girl to get back. It was dark by the time the older girl got back. The girl laid down facing the younger one and smiled. “Was your back still bleeding?” She asked. The girl shook her head. “Good.” The older girl sighed as the younger one plaid with a strand of her red hair.

“It’s time to sleep, Sweetheart.” The older girl carefully drew the other girl closer. The little girl quickly fell asleep. A soft sound wakes the young girl. She opened her golden eyes to see a figure standing over the older girl. He was wearing all black and looked to be the same age as the older girl. We don’t have customers that age here. The girl scooted closer to the other girl; whose skin was cold. The stranger looked at the young girl and his grey eyes widen when he realized that she was watching him.

“You shouldn’t be able to see me. That’s interesting. I’m sorry, little one. Your sister must come with me. She’ll be safe and happy from now on. Now, now don’t cry. You’ll see her again. But not for a while when I come for you. Now sleep.” The girl sank into darkness.
