Glimpses
Of shadows moving in the dark
Glimpses
Of statues dancing in the park
Glimpses
Of the girl in the mirror, missing your birth mark
Glimpses
Of the sourceless fiery spark
Do we know what’s real? Or do we just want to believe
That what we see is what’s there and what we don’t, can’t hurt us?
Because sometimes I wonder
And I know you do too
What if the glimpses are our only window to the truth?
What if the glimpses, the glitches, the moments are the only time we see what’s real?
The moments we brush off, when seen and unseen become one and the same
What if that is the only time we are truly sane?
Glimpses
Of the person you swore was just there
Glimpses
Of the clips you never put in your hair
Glimpses
Of the smoke surrounding the town square
Glimpses
Of the reality that starts to tear
