Just the beginning
A long time ago, there was this little girl named Sadie. She was a petite young girl. She was brought into a life of torment and trauma. Sadie had three siblings, an older brother living with the grandparents at the time and two younger brothers named Chase and Ryan, who lived at home with her. Sadie saw the world as pure and innocent. Only later in life will she realize the world was not what it appeared to be. The world could be cold, dark, and ruthless. Sadie stayed for a while with her parents. She mainly stayed for a while with her mom. Her dad was in and out of jail all the time. Her dad was a drug addict. It only made sense that Sadie was away from her dad for a while. The mom chose the men before her kids. So one evening, while the mom was away. She had left the house that morning. Telling Sadie, ” I’LL BE BACK.” ” Lock the doors.” the mom said. Sadie crawled out of bed and locked the doors. Sadie did what she was told, later of her, to do by her mom. Later that morning, her baby brothers Chase and Ryan woke up. “Mom?” Chase said. “Mom said she will be back,” replied Sadie.
The morning got longer. Chase and Ryan began to get hungry. Sadie went into the kitchen and made her brothers something to eat. She knew she was not allowed to touch the stove. Sadie was way too young even to reach the stove. So she made Chase cereal and made Ryan the same thing. She then cleaned the dishes after they finished. Sadie began to lay some clothes out for Chase and Ryan to put on. She was changing their diapers and getting them cleaned up to play. The day got longer, and the night fell in. Sadie does not know where the mom is.
She began to feed Chase and Ryan again. She was getting them ready for bed and putting her brothers to sleep. To set in for the night. She was tucking them in and singing them a song so they could relax to sleep. Sadie stayed up after her brothers fell asleep. She was waiting and watching the door. Just in case her mom decided to come home. Her eyes were getting heavy and tired as she sat in the hallway. Her weary body finally just gave out. Sadie fell fast asleep. Sitting in the same spot, she sat.
The morning came. The sun shined in. Sadie opened her eyes to realize no mom was in sight. She got up and walked into her brother’s room. She was checking to see if they were awake.
Chase and Ryan were up already playing in the room. She began to change their diapers. She was getting them cleaned all over again. Starting their morning and fixing them breakfast, the only thing she knew how to fix was cereal. Once again, the morning plays out again. This time she played with her brothers. Trucks and cars, anything to keep them entertained. Sadie had kept the boys inside for a whole day already. So getting them ready to go outside to play was no big deal to her. She took her brothers out to play. They sat in the yard playing with trucks and cars, unaware anyone could be watching. Sadie played with her brothers. She was watching strangers pass by them and not say anything. Sadie then finally began to take Chase and Ryan inside that evening. After playing outside the whole day. She began to change Chase and Ryan all over again. She was taking them a bath and changing their clothes for the night once again. Into the kitchen she goes. She was fixing the only thing she could improve—feeding her brothers and putting the dishes into the sink to wash.
She was taking her brothers to the room. She was getting them ready for bed and singing the same song again. ” Go to sleep. Go to sleep. Close your pretty little eyes. Sleep Go to sleep. Everything is going to be alright. I am here for you, and I will protect you. Close your eyes, my sweet little angel pie.” Sadie sang. She then went back into the hallway and sat there all night. She pushed her back against the wall and sat there until her tired little body could not stay awake any longer. The little girl became tired as she tried to keep her eyes sharp. Sadie grew weary, and her eyes became heavy. She soon fell asleep with her body falling limp against the hallway wall. That is where Sadie stayed.
The morning set in. The sun is shining through the windows, waking Sadie up. Several days passed, and still, her mom never showed up. Sadie began to get her brothers cleaned up and changed for another day. She was feeding them only this time, not cereal.
Sadie went to the cabinet only to know she needed to reach the cabinet. She began to pull a chair up and then climbed on the counter. She was reaching for the cabinet door to get the box of oatmeal. Sadie then grabbed the oatmeal and climbed back down.
She then hears her brothers cry in the other room. She went to check, and the brothers wanted her. Sadie then gets Chase and Ryan and takes them into the living room to play. She headed over to the kitchen and began fixing them something to eat. She picks up the pot. Pour water into the pot. She then turns on the stove. Place the pot with water on the stove while she waits for the water to boil. She goes and checks on her brothers. They were playing nice and quietly. She then heads back to the kitchen and opens the oatmeal up. Pour it into the hot boiling water.
The oatmeal begins to boil fast and fills to the top of the pot. Sadie is so close to the pot that she can feel the heat. The heat of the steam coming from the pot. She then turns off the stove. She was waiting for the water and oatmeal to subside. She lets it cool down before serving any to her brothers. She begins to feed them, and after they are done. She begins to change them, cleaning them up. “Another day to play outside ″ Sadie said. “Let’s get y’all ready for outside.” She begins to tell her brothers. She grabbed their toys and headed outside to play once again.
Only this time, a neighbor older female with long blond hair introducing herself as Carrie comes over and asks the little girl, ” Where is yall, Mommy?” The neighbor said, ” Mommy left and has not come back yet.” Sadie replied. The neighbor says, ” How long have y’all been alone?” Sadie replies, `` For several days, I don’t know.”
The neighbor left, and Sadie sat down to play with her brothers. After several minutes passed, or it might have been hours. Sadie hears sirens and cars sounding so loud. She grows scared and grabs her brothers, and runs inside with them. She was locking the doors behind her. Sadie does not know what is going on. Then a loud knock on the door ” Open up, it’s the police!” A loud voice from the door said. Sadie was so scared. She knew if she opened the door, she would be more in trouble with her mom. ” I don’t open doors to strangers,” Sadie replied. Then the voice sounding like a man, says, ” It is ok, sweetie, we are here to find your mom.” The little girl was so scared. She walked over to the door and unlocked the door as she opened the door and looked up. She sees several people with blue uniforms and hats, and badges. They begin to search the house finding no mom in sight.
The man says, ” Come with me; we will take you to find your mom.” The man said. As the man starts walking, Sadie and her brothers Chase and Ryan go to the car. All she could think about was finding her mom. They began making calls as Sadie and her brothers sat in the vehicle’s back seat. A car that had lights that flashed. Later on, she found out it was a cop car. They then began to drive away from home with the little girl and her brothers in the back seat. They then pulled up to a station. When the man gets out of the cop car, he lets Sadie and her brothers out. ” Come with me into the building.” The man with short black hair said. They then walked into the station. Sat down by a table where they fed Sadie and her brother snacks. A lady at the end of the table asked Sadie more questions. ” When did your mom leave?” The lady said. ” I don’t know,” Sadie replied. The questions they kept asking. Sadie only knew her mom left the house and did not return.
After sitting for hours in the police station, the little girl and her brothers were in a room playing. When they saw their grandma show up. The grandmother then gathered up all her grandkid’s belongings and began to take the kids to the vehicle. “Come on, let’s go home.” ” Are yall ok?” The grandmother said. ” Yes,” replied Sadie. They then head home as soon as they enter the door. Their older brother greeted them.
" HI!” “I MISS YALL!” the older brother said. They all begin to give hugs and kisses.
After staying with their grandmother for several days, Sadie’s mom shows up. Right out of the blue. She had told the grandmother. Her grandmother was an older female, short to size a tan complexion, and spoke two different languages, English and Spanish. She went to a party and met a man she was madly in love with. She stayed there with the man. She thought the kids were OK on their own at home. She was coming back. Sadie woke up to her mom and grandmother arguing in the living room. She stayed in the hallway listening to everything that was going on. Everything was being said after discussing it for a while. The mother insisted on taking her kids with her. ” I do not think that is a good idea.” the grandmother said. ” They’re my kids!” the mother said. The mom then saw the little girl in the hallway.
" Mommy is back!” ” Come here, give mommy a hug!” the mother said. Sadie was just too happy to see her mother. She ran over and hugged her. ” Go get your baby brothers, and let’s go home.” The mother then told Sadie. Sadie then walked into the room where her baby brothers were—waking them up and cleaning them, changing them. The little girl had her baby brothers ready to go home. Sadie told her grandparents she was prepared to go home with her mom. As they walked out the door, Sadie turned back and saw her grandparents crying at the door. The little girl was not sure how to feel. She felt terrible they were crying. But was also happy that she was going home with her mom. Soon as the kids got to the car, they saw a man in the driver’s seat. Who was this man? Sadie thought.
