Chapter 1(unfinished)
Miserable. That’s one way people described my family. I grew up in an old neighborhood, the kind you see on a newspaper titled “Crimes in Lovenville.” Of course, that implies my neighborhood wasn’t the safest place. It wasn’t. Not a day went by without some drunk guy crashing into our front porch.
But, one day stood out from the rest. January 3rd, 2019 something changed. Laura Reed was found dead. In my family’s basement.
They didn’t do it- I don’t think. The evidence isn’t on their side. Laura Reed was my best friend. I always brought her over for dinner. I even brought her over on that night, the one where stab wounds were found on her stomach and chest. I remember the way she looked, lifeless on the floor. Her limbs were contorted and twisted in ways unimaginable. Her eyes drained of the memories that we held together. Everything forgotten. Everything erased. I remember the stench of her body as it was removed from the freezer where she was hidden. The Putrid odor that hides behind our wallpapers. It sickens me to think I went down there so casually before her body was discovered.
Laura’s murder was only one in a series. The next day, Genie Murson was found in an alleyway with a bullet in her forehead. On January 5th, Alexandra Lou and Raya Lou went missing. Alex and Raya were pronounced dead as of December 21st. These deaths are known as “Lovenville’s heart attack.”
All of these cases were closed after they blamed my father. I understand why they did. There was just so much against him. He didn’t have an alibi. He was allegedly the last to see Laura and he owned weapons. The kind that could be used to cause their disappearances. We have security cameras all over the house except the basement. It would have been the perfect scheme. Our upstairs bathroom had recently stopped working. When he showed Laura the downstairs bathroom, he could have killed her.
I haven’t gone downstairs for three years. I don’t believe he did it. Well, I don’t want to. Whoever’s out there that killed them, I will find them. I will hunt them down. And I will make sure they get what they deserve, for sure. Laura was my best friend, and Alex was aswell. It’s my job to avenge them.

“Sadie! Beckoned my mother. I see she’s done with her work. “Someone’s here to see you!” I know who it is. It’s Amy. Amy Reed, Laura’s younger sister. I never liked her, she’s bullied several students at her middle school. She’s a brat. I do like to keep her ignorant in my dislike. “Coming!” I take my time going down the stairs, still distraught over the mental image of Laura coughing up blood, her eyes racing around the room.
Amy is sitting on the couch with a smug look on her face. It’s the first time that i’ve seen her since the incident. “What’s it like only having a murderer and a single-mom-who’s-never-home as your parents?" She spits out the words like venom. I see she's dropped her act, so I'll drop mine. "How's having no sister you little spoiled brat?" I squint my eyes to see her reaction. She crosses her arms. "Quite delightful actually." She says "how's no best friend?" "Get out. Now. "
At this point you could say I was yelling at her. My squint becomes a glare. "Coward. I'm not just here to pester you. I have news. " "Tell me then. " she looks around the room, stopping on a valuable portrait hung on the wall. "You little theif. " I block her view. "Tell me. " "Fine. Raya Lou returned to her home yesterday evening. It's all over the news. " her words don't attack me like they usually do "You expect me to believe that? I'm not stupid. Get out or I will throw you out. "
