Author's Note
As a fan of classic gothic reading with supernatural elements, I wanted to describe a reality that no one has yet been able to explain. To limit oneself to saying that it is “scientifically” impossible to prove the existence of such phenomena is, in my opinion, equivalent to saying that there is no life in the Universe: typical human-centric arrogance.
I would find more appropriate the statement that they are not scientifically demonstrable ‘for the time being’.
Beyond this entirely personal approach, I trust you will find in this setting some thrills, elements you already know, and some aspect of originality that does not make us fall into the usual parade of clichés.
“Renfield Institute” is a short novel that is part of a gothic and supernatural series that has in ”Tales beyond the Veil" its introductory incipit.
If you haven’t read it, I recommend catching up with it before proceeding.
It’s not essential, but it gives an idea of the environment.
The novel is divided into two “parts” identifiable by formatting.
Normal Formatting
The narration is in the third person and describes the events involving the protagonists.
Italic Formatting
The narrative is in the first person and describes the point of view of some of the protagonists involved.
The title of the chapter will specify who the protagonist is and his or her role.
