Chapter 1 - The Mistake
Thunder roared in the distance as my boots splashed in muddy water. Covering my head from the cold rain, I finally approached the house. This was the final moment. This would tell everything. Suddenly, I heard soft thudding of footsteps behind me. It seemed like someone was walking on a pile of wet hay. "Wait up!" cried a voice. I recognized it once. It was John, my best friend. You must be wondering how we ended up here. 2 weeks ago, I received a peculiar letter from an unknown person .It had some address of a house on it. Now this was very suspicious so I called John over at my house. "Woah, this is kind of thrilling!" John said excitedly. "Thrilling?" I inquired. "How can this possibly be THRILLING?".
"Hey, calm down. I just meant maybe it'll be a good adventure and who knows? We can also find some tre-"
"NO. NO TREASURE. I'VE TOLD YOU A MILLION TIMES THAT WE *CANT* AND WILL *NEVER* FIND TREASURE" I shrieked, interrupting him.
"Okay, okay" he said "But can we please just go for some adventure?"
"No"
"Why not, Carl? It'll be fun!"
"No it won't"
"I'll bring you your favorite chocolate bars"
"Okay okay fine. The address says.....1765"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It's some kind of passcode" I murmured ,looking down at the letter. "Well, meet me outside at 11pm."
"Sounds like a great plan!!" John said.
