Pawprints On My Heart
Pawprints On My Heart
You left pawprints on my heart
The day you went away
No more walks in the woods
Or splashing on the sandy shore
No more curling up by the fireside
Or there beside my feet
No loving eyes looking into mine
Asking for just one more treat
If only you could of spoke to me
The wisdom you could share
Of unconditional love
And living in the moment
I miss your hugs
And looking into your deep beautiful eyes
I have so many memories of you
That I will keep in my heart forever
Your silky coat I stroked
It calmed me every time
Allowing my stress and worries
To silently drift away
What will I do without you
And the way you listened to my daily troubles
Never judging or criticising
Just believing in me
You watched my children grow up
Didn’t mind if they played a little rough
You loved them just the same
And they loved you back
I travelled on this journey with you
Although your time was short
I am forever in your debt
For how much you enhanced my life
So now you are gone
To carry on your journey elsewhere
I hope that from time to time
You will come back to visit me
And that I know you are there
