Prolog
The light entering the room through the curtain caused the rays to wake her up. The hangover and nausea were present, she definitely had drunk too much alcohol the night before. Massaging her temple while trying to remember how she had gotten to the hotel room. Nina’s thoughts were confused: If memory served me correctly, I was drinking at a gala with... A warm hand landed on her thigh, pulling her out of her thoughts. She slowly lifted the covers to identify whose hand was on her thigh. However, her surprise was another. She was completely naked in a bed with a Damian! The man who had fallen in love with her in three weeks was sleeping at her side. His relaxed face, his bare back, she could see all his muscles, all his thoughts made her cheeks turn red, he definitely had her under a spell. However, her lack of memory did not scare her. Had she gone to bed with him last night? Did they just stay with their soft kisses or did more happen? She lifted the covers on her side, she relaxed, he still had his underwear on. It wasn’t a guarantee, but it was something good, but it definitely reassured her a bit.
Not thinking of him anymore, she tried to remember some of the previous night. However, she couldn’t remember how or why he was in her room... naked... she didn’t even know how she got to the hotel room completely naked! This can’t be happening! Nina’s mind was racing, she tried to find a logical answer to the situation. Looking for clues from the previous night, she spotted the black dress on top of the TV. The scene was practically a scene where a romantic moment was triggered. Their clothes were scattered around the room, champagne bottles on the nightstand with a couple of glasses.* Oh God, this can’t be happening to me. My black lace panties were on the nightstand next to Damian’s. How did they get there? When did I take off my underwear?! * Anxiety was killing her, so many questions, but no solid answers to what happened. *What had happened? This was making me crazy, it wasn’t possible that I didn’t remember anything after the gala. Nina’s phone rang with an alarm that said Flight. Definitely had to return to her country today. But how could she leave everything behind, everything that happened in Manhattan. My flight leaves at 9:20 a.m. to my country, I can’t miss the flight!*
Trying to get up quickly to get dressed, the nausea hit her hard, taking slow breaths she was able to control the urge to vomit. At this moment she was so grateful to have prepared everything and not left everything to the last minute as she usually did. Checking her bag, she got some wet wipes and started to clean her face of makeup and cleaned herself quickly, she didn’t want to use the shower and wake up Damian. She hated not bathing, but she wasn’t sure he wouldn’t let her go and she couldn’t allow that. Quickly taking her panties from the nightstand next to Damian and putting them in her suitcase.
Looking at him one last time before I left, he was my dream. All the moments I spent with him were magical, but I can’t lie to myself. This is not my reality. I only came to New York for a job proposal, not to find...
She thought about leaving him a letter like in the movies, but it would be worse to explain her actions, besides she was already late to La Guardia airport. She left the room, slowly closing the door so as not to wake him. Making a secret escape was killing her, she couldn’t handle the pain that was emanating from her heart leaving him.
In the hotel lobby, everything seemed normal, people were walking in and out. A family, some couples entering the hotel. She approached the Holiday Inn New York receptionist, who was dressed up, her red hair in a bun. She could only imagine how she looked after last night.
“Good morning, miss, can I help you with something?” Her smile was part of the hotel image.
“The checkout please and a taxi to the airport.” Her stress was consuming her, she knew she was leaving behind something she had longed for for years. But she couldn’t throw everything away, besides she had to fix things at home, she had left her company for too long and had to make adjustments to increase production.
“You look a little stressed, miss. Do you need anything?” The receptionist’s eyes were full of concern. She had definitely noticed all the anxiety that was coming from Nina.
“I’m going to miss my flight.” The excuse was convincing, although partially true. Seeing this, the receptionist quickly called a taxi and returned the card with the charges. In a few minutes, the taxi and this entire adventure had ended for Nina. Or at least that’s what she thought.
