Chapter 1
For the past few months, Princess Night Shadow has been kept in a prison cell in a neighboring kingdom. Her family and all of her land were taken from her by an unjust attack. The royals from the attacking kingdom kept only Night alive to make an example of to other kingdoms that were thinking about attacking them.
“Prisoner, stand back! Prince Zero has come to see you.” Night rolled her eyes at how formal the guard was being with her now that the prince was here. The prince entered the prison cell expecting Night to just stand there. When Night realised this, she took the opportunity. She threw her knife at him, but he was already upon her by the time the knife had left her fingers. He grabbed onto Nights wrist and pulled her up to himself. “Guard! I want you to leave us be. I want to speak with the princess, and you being here is only making her even more desperate and dangerous. Now leave. Oh, and don’t tell anyone you saw me here. If they ask anything say to come talk to me.”
The guard leaves at the request of the prince without so much as a second glance. After the guard was gone the prince turned his full attention to Princess Night Shadow. He smiled at her and spoke softly, almost a purr. “Did you attack me so half heartedly like that to just get my attention Princess Night Shadow? Or were you trying to hurt me?” Night tried to pull away, but couldn’t because of the prince’s vice grip on her. “You know I haven’t been able to practice at all since you and your family took me as prisoner. I’ve gotten rusty. If I had been able to practice normally I would have been able to kill you instantly. Alas, I have been stuck in a prison cell for the past what, two or three months. Oh, and Prince Zero, do you think you could let me go now. I no longer have a weapon to hurt you with.”
Prince Zero let go of Night and backed up. He then went to see if the guard was nearby. When he found no one he went back to Night. “Whether you like it or not, Princess, I’m getting you out of here. If I don’t, my parents will kill you. I myself and a few other people I know, don’t want that to happen.” Zero smiled sadly. “I hope I will be able to meet you again… I want you to knock me out and go to the woods, there are a horse and supplies waiting for you there, along with a trusted guide I’m sending with you. When you are out of the country you will be going by a different name. The guide will tell it to you when you get there. Do you understand?” Night nodded to tell Zero she understood. Zero turned away so that Night wouldn’t see him begin to cry. “Please be safe Night…” Zero turned to Night quickly and leaned down to kiss her on the head. “You must be going. Until we meet again.”
Night punched Zero in the stomach to knock him out. When he started to fall to the ground she caught him and laid him down on the bed in the cell. Night grabbed Zero’s sword and wrapped it in her cloke. Before she left the cell, Night had put her family ring into Zero’s boot. The purpose of this was to let him have something of hers since she was taking something of his.
When she reached the forest, true to his word, there was a horse, supplies, and also a person, that she suspected to be the trusted guide that Zero was talking about. Night walked up to the horse first and made sure that it knew that she was there, next she checked the supplies that were there. There was three weeks worth of rations, clothing, bedding, and also weaponry. While Night had been looking through the supplies, the other man had realized that she was there and was walking over to her. Before he could speak Night had pulled out a bow from the supplies that were right there.
Night pulled an arrow back in the bow and aimed it at the man. “Tell me who you are before you come any closer.” The man stopped and smiled politely. “I am that I am, and you are to come with me by Prince Zero’s order. Now come before the guards realize you are gone. Oh, and you will be going by Ciel Phantomhive now. So please remember that in the future.”
