Oneshot
Far is an avid gamer, he would play day and night and sometimes even all-nighters, making his way from school to get home and set aside all his troubles, he would game and sometimes stream. Sitting there he would rock back and forth before his family members would notice and tell him to go pee, and they knew if he sat still for as long as possible he would surely shit himself. One day his habit of rocking back and forth worsened, and he pissed on his 2 grand gaming chair. The next day to solve this and to punish him his sister Pau decided to lock him in the bathroom with a sticky band and a folding table. Sticky bands are quite as dangerous as historic gorilla glue, but water works plenty in removing its ropy resistance, simply wet the sticky band and cut the wet half off and handle it with gloves.
As they push Far into the bathroom, which he is desperately needing to go to, but doesn’t want to lose his tournament placing *chk* he’s locked in. From here Far pees for his life, he’s surprisingly lucky he hasn’t developed a bladder infection. He’s been on the toilet for 10 minutes, half of which was spent just thinking about his life, shortly after he flushes and goes over to wash his hands until he notices something. Far’s mirror has a slight smidge which he’s a neat freak for and cleans it down after he finished he noticed the hallway light is off but in the mirror, it isn’t. Far glances into the mirror trying to figure out what is causing this.
???: Dude, this is weird.
He hears before jumping back and screaming, his reflection does the same and they hear the sister demanding it to be quiet. Far looks at himself
Far: You’re me?
they both comply before his reflection breaks character.
???: Yeah, we’re the same… same bathroom too except our homes are probably flipped, I couldn’t help but break the reflection, but this never would have happened if we didn’t go through the same process to get here, I, by free will decided to enter and, the door is locked and all, but the lights outside my door are on.
Far processes this before answering. “I wanna say this is the reality you should have followed, I got here by following the same path as always and neglecting my freedom I slave away on games and got locked up here for bad hygiene and bathroom etiquette…
Far tells his reflection, and his reflection thinks back on his life to try and make Far jealous, as the reflection figures their realities are not the same.
???: You know that girl you’ve been thinking about?
Far: Zala, you mean her!?
???: Yeah, I have her.
the reflection sneers at Far. Far blushes but also denies the claim.
Far: You got any proof?
he asks and the reflection walks closer to the mirror. When a dog sees another dog perform a trick, that talentless dog may imitate it. Far walks over in the same motion as his reflection as their movements are back in sync and his reflection puts his hand on the mirror, and so does Far. The reflection’s muscles are defined and showing as he pushes against the mirror, Far does the same, their movements are near parallel, then where their hands are against the mirror it turns grey. The grey circle squiggles and contorts eventually growing, their hands, and head, and moments later their whole body goes through that circle.
Far and the Reflection pass through red doors which now appear grey to each other signifying they are open, they drift through such an empty place as they look back the doors their respective doors are red meaning if you end up here you can’t go back the way you came. They pass through the gray doors, and the first thing he notices is the lights are on his side.
Far: You asshole!!! You psyched me out with old-game logic! This room isn’t flipped!
Far rampantly shouts, but his reflection pushes past that and suggests
???: we should get back to our realities.
Far denies it as he realizes the opportunity
Far: You know that girl you’ve been thinking about? Now I have her.
Far grins lustfully.
???: Cut it out you massive virgin.
the reflection says. Far feeling free at last touches the doorknob
???: wait, don’t leave.
the reflection stammers.
Far:Why shouldn’t I?
???: We shouldn’t break the cycle any further, we should only break it if we need to say something important or if we want to switch back, leaving this room with your reality locked like how it is may cause irreversible effects. I believe this mirror is SPECIAL and my reality might not be what you want, if you open and close that door your destiny and mine may be sealed…
The reflection interjected. Far thought this over and agreed that his claim is reasonable, so he stays with his reflection. They even try to cross back again but it was a failure, they realize there are rules and customs they must follow to not disrupt the mirrored reality.
Over the hour they find out their free will is instinctual, but they can turn that off and move in sync. For leaving the room right now, logic courses through their minds telling them they can’t stay in sync for leaving, as there is an obstacle in one reality that prevents them from leaving the room. Far found a rat and so did his reflection. They pick it up the rat and count down from three.
"3, 2, 1"
They both say in unison before Far breaks from his reflection and smashes the rat. The rat has died in Far’s reality, the rat lives in the reflection’s reality but something is off, its reality is broken but as it sees itself smashed in the mirror it lays limp and lifeless, almost as if the rat is gaining sentience and knowledge for witnessing its own death, it jumps down and runs toward the hole it made earlier. With 5 minutes left the reflection tells Far that there are times when you can desynchronize reality causing this whole phenomenon, and during that time people can find out about the mirror but cannot pass through as there is already a contract between the 2 active crossers.
With 3 minutes left, the rat crawls back out, and Far and the reflection try to push both the living and dead rat through the mirror, it works and the dead rat ends up on the reflection’s side, establishing a new rule for Far. Smaller contracts can be formed between animals with lesser intelligence, this means there is a capacity for contracts, and with Far and his reflection that 2, and 4 people going through is just not possible.
Far: Can I call you something besides my reflection?
Far asks, and the reflection replies.
???: Raf, just a play on our names.
With the time being up Pau removes the sticky band and the folding chair, Far and Raf both unlock the door and Pau opens both doors past reality and says
Pau: Ok, get out I need to use it!
Raf and Far both exit and thus start both of their lives in a new reality established through the MIRROR. Far in this altered reality feels it would be strange to go and play games, and Raf on the other hand goes off to do what Far couldn’t. Far decides to leave his house into the great unknown, somethings do look different compared to his normal environment but he decided to go straight to Zala with his simple-minded self, forgetting how females work and not accounting for any countermeasures to such strange events like this he finds Zala at their favorite place “Von Pan Den” a coffee shop. When he catches a glimpse of her, he greets her and he is stopped with
Zala: do I know you?
Confused by this Far answers
Far: It’s me Far and-
he is interrupted with a slap across the face.
Zala: Raf is so in trouble after this…
Far interrupts,
Far: Do you know something I don’t know?
Zala stands up and goes around a corner to the bathrooms and motions Far to follow. He does and Zala drags him into the unisex bathroom and occasionally stammers.
Zala: 2 things you did were wrong at least in this reality, he may have told you about me so you came to me first but today isn’t a day he would see me and second you said your name and not the name he told you. If you said you were Raf it would have been somewhat believable… listen I've never seen his mirror and breaking the cycle is what you two did to get here, I don’t have a great relationship with Raf but I think I know why we don’t talk and he spends more time in another possibility.
Far: Why is that?
Zala: If you didn’t hit it off with Zala in your reality, you may be in trouble Far… I just have a feeling he does this to… create distance from me and close the gap in another reality, what I’m saying is he is cheating on me… with different mes’.
Far asks why they haven’t broken up and Zala answers with,
Zala: You don’t understand it, it’s complicated this whole situation, Far you may not be manipulative, but that doesn’t mean he is, because I feel the evil presence within him. I know what you currently do for a living and means of entertainment, he was once the same gamer until he won me over, then he broke from that. You could change things around, and not with me, but with ‘your’ Zala. I’m telling you this so you don’t break her heart, this reality is slightly ahead in time so maybe you can break free from this cycle on your own, but I have to get you to yours which isn’t so easy.
Far decides to take her back to the house, where they form a plan and fast to break the cycle. Zala goes to the bathroom and closes the door and looks at her reflection and everything around it to find something, she says “hello” which causes Far to open the door thus breaking the mirror’s cycle for Zala, her reflection can see Far on the other side. Zala’s reflection is about to scream but then Zala covers her mouth in sync to prevent that she tells her reflection to stay quiet and tells her everything about Far and Raf up till this point but it looks like she doesn’t believe that half of Far and Raf which means for Far and Zala, Raf has won over her reflection Zala ends off with wanting this to be a secret which she agrees to.
As Zala and Far are about to exit they are greeted by Raf who appears in the hallway on the reflection side, seeing this partially Far gets into position and they sync through the motions of their reflection, Raf has a suspicious feeling for Zala as they are perfectly in sync he just finds it weird that she had a feeling to go to the bathroom alone.
Raf: Zala, what are you doing here alone?
Zala: I just wanted to wash up, it’s been a rough day…
Raf: I don’t care about that because it’s already apparent you’ve broken the cycle, Far do you have a knife on you?
Raf replies and questions Far at the same time.
Far: Who’s to say? I don’t think you need to know that.
Zala nods slightly at Far as she knows what’s going to happen next. Within 2 seconds Zala is put in a dangerous chokehold and the knife is pointed at her, but Raf doesn’t have a knife yet he knew Far would in some cases,
Raf: hahaha, I knew the cards would fall into my hand, you had the knife I wonder what you were planning to do, but it doesn’t matter much because she’s dead to me, useless, unimportant.
Far: how could you-
Far was cut off shortly, as Raf taunts him,
Raf: You know you’re a virgin right in ‘this dimension’ well let’s just say I removed that burden from this one here.
Raf looks with a pleasureful smile.
???: ENOUGH!
Zala’s reflection shouts before hitting her head against Raf’s nose, his grip was slightly loosened when he said that. Raf drops to the floor and Far is no longer in sync. Zala’s reflection says in a panic
Zala's reflection: Far if that’s really you throw me the knife, if this is real, something that’s out of sync from the mirror shall be able to pass through, just like dimensional travel it only becomes a problem if those two objects come into contact, I know it sounds crazy but I’ve had the exact knife you had now, I DON’T KNOW WHO THIS POSER IS! But in this short time, I figured something was missing, and that missing thing was you.
Zala smiled and said, "so she does remember you."
This swayed Far and without a second thought he threw it at the mirror, an object must pass through the other side but the mirror’s rules were broken, and distraught, that the small object was able to pass through with ease. Zala’s reflection grabs the knife that jetted out of the mirror, she grabs the other knife that was idle in her pocket.
Raf: You wouldn’t dare right?!
Raf let out without a concerned expression.
Zala's reflection: Oh yes I would, You’re not the real Far! But I’m wondering if should I remove you entirely or just your face, you’ll be a faceless corpse in the cemetery if you’re lucky at worse you’ll be nothing but bloody clothes in a coffin. Alright guys, cast your votes 1 for no face, 2 for nothing left of him.
Raf: look I’m sorry!
he shouts,
Zala's reflection: 3.
Raf: I won’t try to touch you again in any way I swear!
he pleads,
Zala's reflection: 2.
Raf: I’ll let them live peacefully!
he exclaims.
Zala's reflection: 1.
Raf: Please let me live!
He utters his last breath. Zala’s reflection throws the two knives at Raf’s chest at a golden angle, when they touch they are deep within his chest,
Raf: aaaggggghhh!
which is shortly cut off by an explosion the knives are nowhere to be seen, Raf is nowhere to be seen, and all that’s left are his clothes, his shirt has a small hole in it where the two knives met. Blood was everywhere, all over the walls on Raf’s side of the mirror. The mirror hates anything that’s not a cleaning solution what it did was pass the blood through the mirror and it shot out to Far’s side, they didn’t have time to duck so they closed their eyes, as they all open their eyes they see the mess on the other side of the mirror and Zala’s reflection crying but smiling,
Zala's reflection: he was a pushover at times, and he was acting way too cool, he even tried to force himself onto me
Zala’s reflection says.
Zala: And did you accept his antics?
Zala's reflection: Hell no! Far this kind of goes without saying I believe you, but if what you are saying is true this mirror is dangerous, we’re going to have to destroy it.
“so soon?” Far thought,
Zala's reflection: Of course, I wouldn’t forget about you, I love you, that much is certain if I had to ever do something like this again it would be to ensure our safety, anyway I’ll wait for you on the other side, his clothes should act like a body or ‘large object’ to pass you through to me.
Far is content and finally happy it’s over he climbs through the mirror but before that happens, he looks back at “this” Zala the one who helped him save “his” Zala,
Far: Thank you, for everything, we may or may not see you again, but I’d like to know, will you manage without him, the one I’ve called ‘Raf’ or ‘you’re Far’ will you be alright?
Zala: I like your concern for me it’s genuine unlike his motives, honestly I’ll do fine and move on to someone else, but if we ever find a way to communicate or see each other again we could hang out, of course, I can’t touch the other Zala’s but would be fun nonetheless, take care!
Far: You too!
Far finished before climbing through the mirror. Zala’s reflection picks up Raf’s clothes before putting them into the mirror she is stopped for a second,
Zala: So you’re Zala?
Zala's reflection: No you’re Zala.
Zala: But you’re ‘The Zala’.
Zala's reflection: Alright you got me.
Zala acknowledges what was just said.
Zala: Do you want me to put the clothes through now?
Zala's reflection: Of course not, silly. Me and you, we’re the same, we have a similar personality that much is true compared to a few of the other Zalas I knew from Raf.
Zala: I think what Far wants is for us to break the mirror, but also save an oval or circle of the mirror to turn into a handheld mirror.
Zala’s reflection nods and adds,
Zala's reflection: We should do that, maybe just maybe given the circumstances the Mirror can forgive us, and open up again.
Zala: What do you mean given the circumstances?
Zala's reflection: Well we broke quite a few rules of the mirror, in fact on this side there is a corner of the mirror that’s cracking a bit, we don’t have much time to talk but I’ll say this, I hope you and Far have a good life and don’t forget me, in any case, this doesn’t work.
Zala’s reflection ends off with “we may meet again hopefully.”
Zala: I sure hope so too.
Zala ends off before putting the clothes in the mirror. Far starts moving in motion as the clothes were put in to pass through him through, he looks back at Raf’s clothes as they are closer than ever as they pass by,
Far: So it’s finally over.
Far: Raf I hope I never meet any other one who’s just like you in another dimension, ever again.
Far gets closer to the light as he looks at it, he reaches out in a hugging motion.
Far: I love you too.
