Chapter 1
It has been three years since Andrew slayed James Darkness and he was very happy since then but now Andrew is very nervous. Andrew and his family are making a move into a new uncharted city with other people. This would be Andrew’s first time entering a civilization with other people. The one thing Andrew was saying to himself was that he defeated the most powerful being he has ever seen, this is easier, but no matter what he still was very nervous but he also was excited. Then Andrew packed all his animal skin clothes and told his parents he was done packing. As soon as Lukas finished packing they left. It was a three week trip considering they had to walk. The path to Pokake was dangerous, they had to fight off bears, they had to stomp through murky waters that possibly had crocodiles and after all that they finally made it to Pokake. It was so weird to Andrew. People didn’t wear animal skin, instead they wore clothes made out of wool, they slept in these triangle things and on something they called a cot. Andrew now was nervous and a little embarrassed because he was wearing wolf skin and knew nothing about this place. He knew that he stook out like a sore thumb so he went to his parents and asked where their cave was. His parents laughed and said that they aren’t sleeping in caves, they are sleeping in a house. Andrew asked if a house was those triangle things, and they replied with a happy yes. Then they told Andrew to take Lukas and make some friends. Andrew was hesitant but he did as they said. It was hard for Andrew to make some friends, it was like a whole new world to Andrew. Andrew felt embarrassed, compared to everyone else he was pretty much naked minus that fact that he is wearing wolf skin. Lukas on the other hand was making friends. He looked happy but Andrew assumed that it is because Lukas is young so he is happy to see other people but Andrew’s whole life was just him, Lukas and their parents. So Andrew took Lukas and found their parents and they went to their house. Andrew’s father then said that they’re moving up in life. That they live in a closed community and are protected by everyone. Andrew still felt nervous but he thought it was only because they were in a new environment, but little did he know that he had his bad feeling because the city’s king was James Darkness’ son, Charles Darkness. Charles Darkness is so evil that his father left him for good. Charles Darkness took that as a symbol of war on everyone. He took over this city 500 years ago by terrorizing innocent people, he sometimes killed them. This happened for so long that everyone accepted this as normal life but would never talk about it. The next day Andrew decided to finally talk to someone but when he was walking to the market he noticed a shadow monster, so Andrew hid in some tall grass. Andrew decided to watch what was going on then he noticed something. Andrew saw that the shadow monster was about to execute someone, but Andrew knew that it was being instructed to do it, so Andrew looked around to see if he could find someone who could be its leader. Then he saw someone who looked like James Darkness, but this couldn’t be because he killed James Darkness three years ago. Andrew wanted to interfere with the execution but he knew by doing that he would be putting his family in danger so he decided to go back to his house but don’t tell his parents because he knew two things could happen, they wouldn’t believe him or they would believe him and then they would move immediately but then that guy would get suspicious so he follow them and then find out why they left and kill them. When Andrew got home he went to his room to gather his thoughts. He tried to make a plan so he can get a decent amount of information about this mysterious man. After three hours he came up with two plans that could backfire easily. His first plan was to ask people about him but it could backfire because they might be too scared to talk about him or he could find out and kill him and his family and plan two was to ask him if they could eat dinner with him. Now this plan could backfire if he says no or tries to kill them during dinner but it still is a good plan. Andrew decided to go with his second plan, so Andrew located this mysterious person and acted like he was just wandering around and got lost. Then he went to this mysterious person and brought in his act. Andrew started to cry as realistically as possible. He went to the mysterious man and asked, “ Do you know where my parents are.? We just moved in and I went on a walk and now I am lost.” The man answered, “I might know where they are,” then took Andrew back to Andrew’s parents house. Andrew smiled and said to the man, “Wow, you’re really nice. Can me and my family eat dinner at your place or you eat dinner here with us.” The man smiled and answered, “Sure, you and your family can eat at my place. Take it as a welcome to the neighborhood present.” Then the man gave Andrew the directions to his house. Andrew smiled and went inside his house. As soon as Andrew got to his room he was so relieved that his plan is actually working. So Andrew got bad to acting, he went into his parents room and hugged them and said while crying, “I got lost in the city and a man found me and took me back home.” Even though Andrew felt bad about lying to his parents about some things he kept his act up and it worked. His parents believed him then Andrew continued by saying, “He also invited us to his house for dinner as a housewarming party.” Andrew’s parents were still happy that their son was safe and then got real happy when they knew they also had a chance of making a new friend, so they told Andrew to get his brother ready to go. Andrew did it without question, he knew his plan was working, now all he had to worry about is getting the information, so while he was getting Lukas ready he was thinking of questions to ask the man. Thirty minutes later they finally made it to his house. The man was standing at his front door and welcomed them in. The place was huge and very shiny. He had gold walls and very ancient artifacts, considering Andrew was homeschooled he knew what everything was. When they finally got to the dining room everyone sat down and Andrew saw his time to shine. Andrew asked the man, “Sir, this place is beautiful but may I ask what your name was?” The man laughed and then said, “My name is Charles, you can call me that if you want.” Andrew nodded and then asked, “Charles, do you have any family?” Charles answered, “Not anymore. My dad was killed three years ago, but might I ask what your names are?” Andrew’s dad answered, “Oh where are our manners, My name is John, this is my wife Sadie, and that is my eldest son Andrew, he is just full of questions and that is my youngest son Lukas.” Charles answered, “Nice to meet all of you. Remember that you are welcomed here anytime also I don’t mind the questions.” Then they all started to laugh and Charles continued to say, “Andrew, do you have any more questions.” Andrew answered, “Just one, what was your fathers name?” Charles answered, “James, my father’s name was James.” Andrew answered, “That is a cool name, I am sorry for your loss.” Charles then answered, “Thanks.” Then the dinner came, Andrew was amazed at how much food there was. Andrew knew that this would be some good eating. Then when they got home. Andrew collected his notes and came up with two theories. One is that Charles is James Darkness’ son but he was very nice so that is when his second theory came into play. It was a coincidence that Charles’ father had the same name as James Darkness and died at the same time and at the same cause, but that wouldn’t explain that time where he was at the execution. Now Andrew’s bad feeling got stronger. He didn’t know why and then at that very moment the house was raided by shadow monsters, but the weird thing is that they weren’t trying to kill them, they were trying to knock them out. Andrew and his parents surrounded Lukas to protect him but they threw Andrew out the window and then knocked out his parents and Lukas.
