Tiger tiger
He had just thrown his shirt off and was huffing in air as he laid on the bed. Those wolves could certainly run fast. He knew he was pretty fast himself but tigers were more quick sprinters to take down their own prey, the wolves were cross country, there was no doubt about that. He’d have to find a way of keeping up better once they said he could stay.
His breath was just about back when the door opened and his mate walked in. Even after the run, she looked beautiful to him. His ray of sun on a cloudy day, she glowed with vitality with her hair windswept back and her own cheeks at least red from the endurance.
He was smiling until she said, “Your three weeks are up Joseph, you need to leave.” Joseph watched as her eyes darted to the side and looked at the wall. Why was she lying?
“Is that what the Alpha said?” he growled low, his inner tail twitched in anger, how dare his own female lie to him as if it was nothing.
She glanced back at him, “It’s been decided,” she growled low and bared her fangs. Joseph could at least attest that was the truth but was it the alpha who had decided or herself? Getting up slowly off of his bed he moved close to her and crowded her until her back was up against the wall. He slowly brought his hand up and cupped her cheek and raised her head to look at him.
“You never wanted me?” he asked as his heart broke at his own words. Could his mate be truthful or was she going to lie once again?
She flicked her head out of his grasp and looked down, “I have a mate. Before you arrived, we were quite happy. Now I have to make many amends to him so he will once again be the wolf he was before a selfish cat entered our lives!” She bit out.
Joseph chuckled with condemnation and then purred as he pressed his own cheek against hers and rubbed, “You know it’s easy to tell when you lie? You always look away and down as if you can’t bare what comes out of your mouth.”
She snarled and went to push him away but he grabbed a hold of her wrists and gently pushed them against the wall. He moved quickly as she went to knee him in the groin and he smirked at her, “No Rebecca, you’re not being very nice to your mate.”
Rebecca stiffened and jerked back, with a snarl she went to bite him, “You are no mate of mine! I forsake you and your claim! You’re nothing but a dirty cat with so much blood on your hands that it sickens me to look at you!” Tears began forming as she snarled and Joseph sighed as he used one hand to wipe them away before stepping back.
“If this is what’s been decided,” he paused and drew in a breath, this was going to hurt like a son of a bitch but his mates want's came before his own and she had just told him what she truly wanted, “Then I rescind my claim,” he had to snarl out the last and turned away as his heart started to rip into shreds. He turned back when Rebecca cried out in agony and was about to go to her when he stopped. She wanted nothing to do with him he had to remind himself.
Sighing, he began grabbing his shit and throwing it into his duffle bag. When everything was gathered, he didn't have much to begin with, he looked at Rebecca and gave her a sad smile, “I hope you and Brett will be happy, give my well wishes to the rest of the pack.” He then opened up a portal and walked through, leaving her gasping on the floor.
As the portal closed, she stared where Joseph had gone through and wondered what she had just done.
….
Rebecca was lying in her bed when her own door banged open. Rodrick stepped through the door with concern. “Where is he Becca?”
“Gone,” she said and looked away, staring at the things in her room. So many things reminded her of him and it was only then that she realized that much of her room was tigerish. When had that happened?
“What do you mean gone? I hadn’t given him my answer yet!” Rodrick huffed and crossed his arms. He had given the tiger a chance and at the end of the probation he had simply walked away. Maybe Rebecca had been right in not giving him a chance.
“I gave him my answer,” she said and Rodrick paused and looked at her. While tears were gone, her eyes were still red from them and she was holding herself.
“What did you do?” he growled low.
“It was my decision and I sent him away!” she growled back and sat up, “He claimed me as mate without me even realizing it when I was so young! He should have never been given a chance!”
Rodrick growled and slammed his fist on the wall, leaving a small indent. It was a testament on how much he was leashing his own anger, “It was not your decision you selfish pup! I gave him the probation period to see if he could integrate into the pack. The mating between the two of you was up to you, not him joining the pack!” he snarled, “Brett has even contested the mating between you and him and has started dating Michon to see if they’d be suitable! But you never thought about that did you?”
Becca gasped as hurt and anger consumed her and once again she asked herself what she had done. She had thrown away a mate, someone who constantly put her first and cared for her to no end. Someone who went through humiliation to join the pack and used in far more dangerous situations than what he was used to. Being a tiger, he picked and chose what he could handle or what was too big of a risk. With being in a pack, that decision would be taken away from him. He had been willing to give his freedom to stay with the pack, with her and she had tossed him aside believing she would be happy with Brett who had simply thrown her away.
“Pack your shit!” Rodrick snarled and Becca swiftly looked at him in terror, was he kicking her out? “We’re going after him and if we have to travel across all five realms then so be it, but until we find him you’ve been demoted to omega. Your selfishness is prime example of what’s not tolerated in this pack!”
Becca felt sadness at the loss of her place in the pack but she had started packing her bag as soon as he had said they were going to find Joseph. It was imperative to find her big hunk of mate no matter what and make it up to him.
