Meeting
Kiana Heart went to the Sorbonne, where she met Ruby Pierce. Kiana had been walking to Sorbonne University for art, and Ruby Pierce was there for fashion design. They paid for their dorms and had yet to learn who their roommates would be. Both girls had the weekend to settle into their dorms. Kiana was already in the dorm setting up her stuff with the help of her big brother, Kai, and Ruby was getting coffee from the Starbucks across the street. She had gotten help from her best friend to set up her room in the dorm. Her best friend was waiting for her in front of her dorm. It irritated Scarlett since she was taking too long and was about to leave after only a few steps. Ruby finally shows up.
She yells, "Scarlett! Wait, I'm here!"
"You showed up; it took you long enough., What the hell were you even doing?"
Ruby looks at her hand and looks back up.
"Uh, that doesn't matter now; we should start heading inside and redesigning my room."
"Yeah, that's why I'm here."
Ruby rolls her eyes at Scarlett.
Ruby unlocks the dorm door. The dorm was small and cute. When you walk into the dormitory gazing to the left of her dormitory, you can see the kitchen, and over on the right side is a small living room. Down the hallway is one bedroom, and down to the right is another bedroom; a small bathroom for roommates to share; Both girls came in, surprised.
Kiana yells, "Can you help me, or are you just here to sit down?"
"I guess I can help a little bit."
"I guess your roommate is already here, shortie."
"Great, let's go meet them!"
"Wait, why do I have to meet them?"
"It's your roommate, not mine."
"Shut up; you're coming with me."
Scarlett groans unhappily at having to meet new people.
"Don't be so dramatic or mean,"
"Fine, but no promises that I'll like them,"
Ruby looks at her and says, “I know that; let's just go.”
Both girls walk down the hallway. Ruby is in front, and she knocks on her roommate's door.
*Knock, knock, knock.*
Kiana looks toward the door.
“Kai, hold this here; don't let it go.”
Kai walks towards Kiana, holding the poster. Kiana walks towards the door and opens it.
“Hello?”
“Hi! I'm Ruby, I'm your roommate, and this is Scarlett. She’s my best friend.”
“It's lovely to meet you.”
“I'm Kiana, and this is my brother, Kai.”
Kai waves at the girls. Kiana tells Ruby,
“Your room is on the right.”
“Thank you!” Ruby looks at Scarlett.
“Can you get my bags, please?”
Scarlett sighed.
“Fine.”
“Thank you!”
Scarlett walks to the living room to get Ruby's bags; she carries them to her room while Ruby lies on the ground.
“So you will not help carry your bags?”
“Nah, you can do the work for me.”
Scarlett laughs.
“Yeah, no, you are going to do the work, and if you need help, I'm here to help you.”
“You should start, shortie,” Scarlett says while smiling.
“I hate you,” Ruby says, trying to find something to throw at her.
Scarlett lends a hand to help Ruby get up from the floor. As Ruby unpacks her bag, Scarlett sits on the floor. Scarlett already knows Ruby will need help. She waits for Ruby to ask for it. Scarlett had already unpacked her stuff in her dorm; they were a couple of doors apart, and her roommate wasn't there when they were.
Ruby questioned, “Who is your roommate?”
Scarlett puts her phone down and says, “Uh, I don't know. I haven't seen them yet. Why?”
“Can't I be curious?”
“When you’re thinking about my roommate, you’re probably thinking something weird; you do a lot of stupid stuff,” Scarlett says, smiling.
“Also, you're taking too long; I'm helping you.”
***One hour later***
“Can we take a break, Scarlett?” “I'm tired,” Ruby says, complaining.
“Sure, are you hungry?”
“We can get some food.”
“Of course, I'm hungry; let's go!”
Scarlett and Ruby walked out of the dorm and outside the building to get some food. Ruby had wanted Indian food, but Scarlett didn't care what kind of food they got. There was an Indian food place nearby. So they just walked over there. Ruby offered to pay for them, but Scarlett refused and told her to save her money. Ruby and Scarlett had been friends since they were little kids; they'd always seen each other as sisters and had always been very close.
*After Eating*
After eating, both girls went to Ruby's dorm to unpack and put everything up.
“Can you help me put this up?” “I'm too short,” Ruby says, annoyed.
Scarlett replies, “Sure, shortie.”
Ruby glares at her. Scarlett gets a couple of thumbtacks from the desk and pins the string of lights to the wall.
“Let’s test them now,” Ruby exclaims.
When she turns on the string of lights, her room lights up beautifully, with glowing parts evenly distributed throughout and perfect lighting throughout the bedroom. Baby-blue covers for her pillows and baby-blue bedsheets.
***Hours Later***
After hours of setting up and putting things where they go, they finally finished. Kiana had come out of her room and walked over to Ruby's room. Knock, knock, knock! Ruby looked toward the door as Scarlett opened it.
“Hello!”
“Sorry to disturb you, but I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with my brother and me,” Kiana says.
Ruby agrees and says, “We'd love to go!” She smiles.
Scarlett shrugs and agrees. Kiana smiles while Kai shrugs. Kiana and Ruby walk in front of Scarlett and Kai. It was silent between Scarlett and Kia while walking behind Ruby and Kiana, but the two girls were having fun and laughing. Kai attempts to start a conversation with Scarlett.
“So-”
Scarlett interrupts, “Look, I don't like you, and I never will, ok?”
Scarlett walks faster in front of Ruby and Kiana;
Both girls look behind. Kiana asks, “Kai, what did you do?”
Ruby responds, “Probably nothing; that's how Scarlett is; she doesn't like people.”
Kiana curiously asks, “Can I ask why?”
“I don't know, she just doesn't—I never understood that about her, but she'll warm up to you one day,” Ruby shrugs.
