( Clara pov ) when you're eighteen and not like the other students in your school people tend to talk. My parents were important people they adopted me when I was nine months old, you see they are actually my aunt and uncle my real parents died in a plane crash I never knew them . They were away on missionary work alot. Today is my eighteenth birthday and I'm getting shipped to " shifter island " it's an island for people who can shift into animals without being afraid or laughed at. My best friend Jenny is going too, she's a shifter also but she shifts into a hawk . I shift into a wolf , there lots of different types of shifters some fly and some turn into bugs . But all of us are unique in our own ways, my aunt Carol says there are shifters known as hybrids out there which are two different types of shifters who have mated together and created a new shifter . By law shifters are supposed to spend their lives with their mates of their species, but my uncle has told me that there has been times where shifters break rules when it comes to love. You're probably wondering how I'm a shifter? Well...my mom was a shifter but my dad wasn't she rejected her mate for my father which was his baby brother my uncle. My uncle wasn't upset he found my aunt Carol and they became mates. Both of them are shifters, then there's my ten year old cousin Zach he's a good kid but annoying at times. " Clara! Jenny is here time to go!" My uncle shouts from the kitchen I grab my bag and toss it over my shoulder as Zach jumps on my back playfully grinning brightly " giddy up!" He yells excitedly I groan at him get down Zach you're heavy!" My aunt laughs as I exit the house and head to the car greeting Jenn " ready?!" She asks excitedly I nod at her smiling " let's go!" I say to her walking out. Jenny cranked the radio dancing in her seat I giggled at her as her golden locks blew in the wind as we drove in her father's candy apple red convertible. All while Backstreet boys was playing on the radio I sighed heavily looking at the scenery she nudged me playfully as the sunlight hit our eyes blinding us slightly " look Clara I don't want to leave Jake or our school anymore then you do alright, but it's not like we have a choice!" She says as she drives while putting her lip gloss on . I smirk at her rolling my eyes Jake was her allstar boyfriend he was the leading player on the football team. But there were rumors around our school that Jake was gay and that he was only with Jenny so his dad wouldn't find out. Jake's father was a wealthy man and for his nineteenth birthday Jake got taken to a strip club with his buddies. Jenny and him didn't talk much after that, I turned to her and smiled as we approached the ferry . The boat read " shifter island " Jenna smiled at me brightly " Clara this is exciting!" She said as we turned around seeing other shifters our age of all types. There were birds , wolves, tigers, bears , and even butterflies. We departed the boat and a gentleman greeted us " good day my name is Atlas and I will be your guide here on the island. Now before we get started there are a few rules that must be followed. Mr. Blake doesn't like it when rules get broken, number one: you will have daily training and be allowed to roam every part of the island. Please feel free to make new friends. Number two: mating is only allowed between your own spices, however there are exceptions, if an alpha gets rejected for another alpha it is his duty to fight for his mate . The mate may then be forced to choose, Number three: you are all adults here we are not responsible for injuries or death that may occur during fights. That is all the island is separated east , west , north and south each clan has their own side that's where you'll stay. Go!" Jenny went her direction I went mine I followed the pack of wolves that would now be my family I was approached by a handsome young boy probably around my age dark hair green eyes " hey I'm Sam what's your name?" He asked me curiously I look at him smiling slightly " Clara , my name is Clara. " I said softly he grinned at me " Clara, that's a pretty name....you're pretty too." He said blushing I hid my face as I turned a little red . I had no idea this guy was , all I knew was that he was a wolf like me. Suddenly out of nowhere three other people appeared next to us a girl with dark brown hair and green eyes and two tall built guys . The oldest guy Isaiah seemed to be the leader of every one, he was twenty years old and his body looked like it had seen several gyms and not a whole lot of candy . But I could tell his type from miles around pretty boy , playboy type who always gets what he wants or so he thinks. Then there was angel Sam's sister, she was shy but bossy when it came to Sam. Next was donavin he was Isaiah 's best friend and omega. Last but not least was Logan he was the quietest and calmest person I ever met. This was just our main group there were hundreds of more people arriving by morning. That night I sat next to the campfire and just looked up at the stars Isaiah sat down next to me. " Clara right?" He asked me curiously I nodded at him " yeah...Isaiah right?" He smirks at me handing me a drink " relax it's only gingerale " he says looking at me smiling brightly I take it and sip slowly " I'm sorry I'm not used to this" I say to him sighing heavily he sighs looking at me " oh, you mean being around other shifters?" He asks me curiously I nod at him tucking a piece of hair behind my ears. As the light from the fire reflects off his face I smile at him slightly " yeah...I mean my aunt and uncle are shifters and so is my best friend Jenny but she's not a wolf. " he giggles slightly at me " sorry Clara so what brought you to the island anyway ? I mean we're all here for some reason what's yours?" I sigh heavily " well....I kinda got angry at school at a girl who was bullying me about my dead parents and it caused me to shift infront of everyone. " they all look at me sadly angel sighs heavily chewing on her gum " shit! Clara we are really sorry we had no idea. Sam and I are here because our folks didn't want us at all...." I look down sighing " what about you Isaiah?" I ask him curiously " me? I'm here because my father wants me to make a good name for our pack and hopefully find my mate. "How about you Donavin?" Angel asks smirking at him he rolls his eyes at her sighing " Angie you already know why I'm here just drop it okay!" I look over at him confused Sam looks at me smiling " dont mind them Clara, Angel and Don used to date up until last week when she was caught fucking around with another one of Isiah 's friends who is also coming to the island. " angel gets up angirly and shoves Sam " asshole! You promised you'd keep your mouth shut!" She storms off angirly crying fustratedly I sigh glaring at Sam though wasn't my place " that wasn't nice Sam! I maybe out of line here and forgive me for being forward, but whatever went on outside the island is angel 's business. Yes we are here to make new friends and connections but not by hurting those around us if you are to be my family from now own I want to know I can trust you Sam." He lowered his head nodding at me " you're right I'm sorry Clara I'll go apologize right now!" He got up running after angel and Isiah smirked at me " I like a woman who stands up for herself like that . You aren't afraid to tell people how you feel that's what I look for in a mate. " he says boldy as Don rolls his eyes at him Isiah grins at me " hey I've got a great idea why don't we head to the south side and go meet some new friends?" I raise my eyebrow at him confused " ummm okay but it's midnight aren't they asleep?" I ask curiously Don shakes his head at me " Not a chance, everyone is partying tonight " he says I had no idea what I was getting into. Unfortunately saying no to Isiah wasn't an option, when we arrived at the south side which was home to the tiger shifters Trey there leader greeted us he was tall with shaggy blonde hair almost white hair, with one blue eye and one green eye. He had dimples and there place had a hot tub and dance floor. With a waterfall I watched as everyone was having fun partying. That's when things got awkward. Trey smiled at me and handed Isaiah a drink then Trey gently took my hand and turned toward the dance floor. " wanna dance?" He asks me excitedly I had a hard time resisting his charm and those dimples. Isaiah got upset for some reason and crushed the cup in his hand then shoved Trey angrily " back off tiger she's mine!" Isaiah says grabbing my arm firmly I glare at him annoyed sighing as I pull away from him angirly " I belong to no one!" I say to both of them as I push threw the crowd fustratedly and head toward the woods . I hear Sam and angel call my name but I ignore them and continue to go deeper into the forest finding myself face to face with a bear shifter. I shift into my wolf form standing my ground as I hear my pack and see them surround the bear it begins to retreat . As I return to my human form collapsing to the ground as angel catches me " Clara! She's exhausted we better get her back " Isaiah scoops me up gently and carries me home " let's go!" He says in a demanding voice. When I woke up the next morning I was in Isaiah 's bed my head was pounding and Don was greeting me with a gentle smile and a cup of coffee. " good morning " he says placing the tray down infront of me " what's good about it donavin?" I asked him confused sighing heavily he smirks at me " sorry Clara about how Isaiah behaved last night, he had a reason for it. He was sent here because he was rejected by three mates, I've known Isiah since we were just kids his dad got arrested for child abuse. That's why he can't find a mate please don't let on I told you." I cover my mouth as tears form in my eyes I nod at him " Donavin will you please get me Isaiah I wish to speak with him." He nods rushing out of the room Isiah returns and sits next to me gently sighing heavily looking away from me. " Isiah what's wrong?" I ask him curiously he sighs once more " I apologize for my behavior last night Clara it won't happen again. You're right you belong to no one, it's just that ever since I got here you're the first person I've made a real connection with I don't want to ruin it " I tilt his face toward me smiling as I lean in kissing him deeply " you won't ruin it I promise " he blushes looking at me and backs up into the door as he leaves smitten. After that one kiss things began to change, it's funny you can learn alot about a person by a touch . I began to learn that Isaiah was no prince charming.....
