Belladonna Eclipse

“She wanted her Belladonna Eclipse.”

She was not the woman he loved, she died long ago. He knew their love would not last, she wasn’t capable of love, she only thought of herself, yet he stayed with her and let himself get destroyed, he had to stay though, he has a child. His child was born with her mother’s features, almost a clone, that light brown hair with warm chocolate eyes, that small nose, and delicate features. His wife took it upon herself to name the child, Tiffany Chalmet Haven was born on the fifteenth of May. She gave Jay Tarver Haven no option in the name of the child, nor did she for their second child Daniel Corbin Haven. By their third child, Jay had enough of Denna’s control and named the baby. On the twenty-fourth of November Athrhea, Jade-Ellis Haven was born with stunning features, snow-white hair, ice-blue eyes, sharp cheekbones, and perfect lips; he was grateful that she looked nothing like her mother. He could barely handle her.

He and Denna had been having marriage problems since the beginning. Denna came from a high-end family who expected their daughter to marry another high-end man. Instead, she married Jay who came from a line of middle-class workers; he was the first in his family to go to college. To say that Denna’s parents despised Jay was accurate, they tried everything to break them up but it didn’t work, that was until Denna cheated with Jay’s best friend Robert. Not two weeks later Denna announced she was pregnant; Jay forced a paternity test to see if the child was his and was semi-relieved that the child was his. He repeated the same process for each child, he always wanted children and it would be awful to learn that his children weren’t his.

He knew Athrhea was special when she was born, she developed in the womb at an unprecedented rate, born at five months a healthy baby. Jay didn’t play favorites, he knew his other children would think he favored Athrhea, but he saw in her what he saw in neither of his other kids; he saw himself. Tiffany and Daniel had no traits of him but Athrhea did, she had his resilience and passion, and anyone would be horrified by what he did to protect his daughter. What kind of father mixes different alcohols in his infant’s bottle, or slips drugs into his daughter’s food? He did it out of love, he knew she could handle it and she was right, she was an amazingly advanced child who handled alcohol like an adult, who could lift double her weight by three. She was his greatest joy, he prepped her for a dangerous line of work, he made sure she would have everything when he died, and he didn’t trust his wife or other kids, especially after Denna slipped into a drug habit.

She believed Athrhea was a demon because of her ability and advancements, she believed herself to be going crazy and turned to substances to quiet the insanity in her head. It was a problem for Jay, he was a DEA agent, he was hired to slow the spread of drugs in the Embassy and his own wife was using, taking money out of the kids’ college funds. He put Athrhea’s fund separately so it would be safe. He thought many times of taking the kids and leaving Denna but Daniel and Tiffany were attached to their mother whereas Athrhea barely interacted with her mother. He wonders every day what happened to the woman he loved.

He would swoon every time she walked down the hall of their college, somehow Jay managed to get the money to afford an education at a high-end university. He finally got the courage to ask her out, he half expected her to laugh at him and walk away so he was surprised when she said yes. It was her idea to get married a year later in Jay’s second year of college and Denna’s third; she was a year older than him. She said she wanted a child because she wanted to be a mother, it wasn’t until after Athrhea was born that he realized she wanted kids to piss her parents off and to have someone to do her bidding. They never slept in the same beds except when they decided to conceive after it was back to separate bedrooms which Jay didn’t mind at all, she hogged the sheets at night and had a bad habit of kicking.

Policing and undercover DEA brings a lot of trauma that Jay has to live with, it gave him PTSD seeing all the poor children and families torn apart by sex and human trafficking, all the poor children getting addicted to drugs to cope with abuse or selling it to put food on their table. He developed horrible nightmares that Denna always complained about. “God, if you have such bad nightmares why do you quit Jay? I never get sleep anymore.”

If anything the dreams made him see that he had to keep going in his career, most of the nightmares were of a little girl with white hair and blue eyes being taken and tortured, and raped. The worst of the dreams came when Athrhea was born and she looked just like the girl in his dreams, he saw that it was his daughter being tortured and in every mission, he had to rescue the girls he saw his daughter in every girl. It tormented him so he prepared his baby girl as best as he could to survive the horrors of this world, he prepared her so that she could live and finish what he started. He always knew she would be the greatest fighter in the world, that she would do what no other could do, she would beat every man that came her way, and every obstacle life threw at her she would throw it back with ten times the force. His baby girl is invincible.

When his life ended he was in despair, he had to leave his precious girl, only six at the time, with a mother and siblings who despised and neglected her. He had to watch her grow up for fourteen years by herself, he watched as she took down every enemy, as she killed the man who killed Jay, as she found her purpose and a man whom she loves and who loves her. He watched her torture herself for years, to poison herself and take Jay’s training to the max. He watched her try to kill herself, he saw his baby girl suffer and there was no greater pain than that. The proudest moment of his life was when she returned to her lover when she told him of her love and finally said ‘I love you’ to Jay, the words he always craved to hear from her.

She was finally getting the life Jay always wanted from her and now that man that she fell in love with was down on one knee, showing off a beautiful ring and asking Jay’s daughter to marry him. The pain she caused herself and caused him was holding her back, putting her guard back up, and causing immense pain to everyone, she stands before her lover as he proposes a huge choice to make, her Belladonna or her Eclipse. But his daughter never played by the rules, she always did what she wanted, and she wanted both. She wants her Belladonna Eclipse.
