Humanity's Bus

You may not know that I have written poetry since grade school. Most has never been seen, but I am going to change that by sharing a piece I wrote in 2020 when it seemed our world was imploding around us.

It may read heavy but that is the whole point. We have allowed ourselves a patriarchal world. I believe it was never meant to be that way but instead a world of equality where both men and women shared the load as a team.

There is still time, and there is still room on the bus for each of us to share our gifts for the betterment of humanity.

Humanity’s Bus

1

it began in a metaphorical garden

made by love, for love,

to re-member love;

a divinely grand idea devised above.

you, protector of all land and air

strong and proud, but alone;

desirous of a helper, love took out a loan.

me, beautiful, resilient, a multi-tasker

so much to share, the perfect

partner;

move a mountain, tame the sea,

possible together.

2

we nurtured, we created, we took the

control from Mother Earth,

no intention of creating chaos left

to bleed;

but damn our fears, our greed, and

materialistic needs.

we were naïve and gladly took our part,

we were even proud to be called

wife

we were willing for that vision of life;

the vagina, the bosom, the self-sufficient

grace,

will always continue to seek an

equal space.

3

you grew fearful and greedy with a need

to control;

when did this start?

was it when we opened our mouths, our

hearts, our private parts?

you elected, you schemed and sold your

souls

turning blind eyes at every proof

of lack

you even drove a knife into your

brother’s waiting back.

you built, you tore down and

demolished,

no thought of dear Mother Earth;

you forgot who labored in pain to give

you birth.

the penis, the ego, the Cheshire smile,

continuing tricks used, an effort to

beguile.

4

the desire, the hope, never more

than you

only the desire to be equal to;

optimism, knowledge, the original plan,

change must start as a grain of

sand;

can you lay side your arrogance,

misogynistic agenda and good ole

boy pride?

Will you have the courage to step aboard

the bus of humanity and take a ride?
