Best Friends
To have a day off is the most peaceful time until someone ruins it by flinging their work bag across the table like they are at the Olympics. With a sigh, Trinity sends her book down.
“Fun time at work? Or did you need something that involves bag tossing??” Trinity sighed.
“Does she hate me, or is that her hobby?? I mean, come on now!! My pants!! This stain will never come out.”
Examining the stain, Trinity grabbed a napkin and handed it to her as if it would help. “Damn, it's coffee too. She upgraded, huh?” Trinity said as she took out her phone.
“It's not fucking funny, Trin. These are my favorite work pants, and she ruined them. I didn't do anything to her this time. She wanted my notes, and I didn't have them—” Kiara noticed her friend wasn't paying attention. “Earth to Trin, are you home?? I need your response here. That’s how a conversation works, you know. I talk, and you reply.”
Trinity shifted her eyes toward Kiara and then back at her phone. She doesn't care because it is the same shit every day. It's like a broken record that won't stop. “Kiara, I love you, but you need a new hobby. I am tired of hearing about the same girl over and over. She is old news.” She said as she adjusted herself on the couch.
With a fake gasp, Kiara shook her head in disappointment. As her best friend, it shouldn't matter if it's the same situation you got to listen to. Pouting, Kiara reached for a chip– SMACK!! Trinity smacked her so hard that she couldn't react fast enough. This girl knows no one is allowed to touch Trin’s food. NO ONE!!
“Girl, you almost got your hand taken off. Don't pull that shit again.” Trinity stated.
“Ow, damn, Trinity! It's only one chip this time.” Kiara said as she rubbed her hand. You can see in the corner of her eye that Trinity was giving her the stare. Crossing her arms, Kiara got up and headed toward the kitchen. She couldn't take anything without her friend’s mouth.
“It’s your turn to restock my fridge.” She said with a smirk.
"EXCUSE YOU?? I GOTTA WHAT NOW?"
Trinity turned to face Kiara and then repeated herself. Kiara is always over here. At least she can fill the fridge. “Don’t forget the eggs this time,” Trin stated.
Rolling her eyes, Kiara replied with a sarcastic tone. Before she sat back down, Trinity waved her hand for a beer. With a “the fuck” look, Kiara growled at her best friend. Then she proceeded to say that she wasn’t a fucking maid.
“Shit. I mean, if you buy an outfit, then the job is yours.” Trinity laughed. Kiara mocked her laugh while snatching the beers. With a smile, Trinity tossed Kiara, her controller so they could begin their gaming session.
10 o’clock struck, and the two were on their last round of Call Of Duty. This was their number one activity to do together, and with Kiara’s job, they could get early access. When the fight was over, they put down their controllers and stretched. “Need a better team. I hate carrying the luggage.” Trinity said.
"You... carry the luggage? Who saved your ass in previous rounds? Uh, me... thank you very much." Kiara got up to clean.
"Because I was with idiots who didn't know how to protect me."
Kiara laughed at the excuse and then glanced at the clock. The “oh shit” moment took Kiara’s body as she picked up her pace. Trinity wondered why the rush until she peeked too. She pointed out that Kiara could go while she cleaned up, but Kiara insisted on helping.
“If he kicks my fucking door in one more time. I will call the cops quickly.” She annoyingly said.
"Please don't. I don't want any drama. You know that."
"I don't want to keep paying for his fuck ups. He will be the reason I get evicted from this place. I don't want to live with my sister. Why don't y'all just break the fuck up?" Trinity told her.
Kiara stood there with utter fear. Even though the relationship isn't the best right now, it will be WW3 in the building if they break up. This is why things need to stay calm. The coffee table vibrated as the girls were talking. Fear intensified when Kiara’s phone was the one. The younger one shook her head as the girls wrestled for it.
With caution, Kiara answered. A voice began to yell from the other line. Trinity sat on the couch in complete disappointment. Why does she let him talk to her like that?? It's disgusting. After the conversation, Kiara hung up, and tears rolled down her face.
“Why do you do this to yourself?? He a fucking asshole that doesn’t know how to treat women right. Especially you.” Trinity said.
“You don’t understand, okay? He is a good man. He has anger issues.”
“Violent anger issues,” Trinity mumbled under her mouth. Kiara ignored her friend's words as her face turned sour. Seeing her like that pains Trinity, so she goes in for a hug.
“See you tomorrow morning,” Kiara said.
“Love you, Kiara.”
