Chapter 1

I woke up from my dream about dragons because of my alarm blaring into my ears. At 6:30 in the morning my Neighbours don’t take too kindly to my alarm so I use earbuds now so nobody can hear the noise but me. Its smart but damn if it isn’t really annoying and loud. I guess that’s why it works so well. I fall off my bed trying to turn off the stupid thing and knock into the curtains causing them to part to reveal a very bright sun. The sun beamed into the window of my very colourful room.

It bounced of the prisms and CDs hung on the ceiling. It was a personal taste of mine that apparently nobody else has. I love the look of light bouncing off shiny objects. My walls were a pastel Green and looks beautiful when the light bounces from the prisms to the walls in a cascade of colour. My bed matches my walls in colour and so does my closet. I watch the rainbow climb my walls traveling to the closet. When I remember my clock.

I look at the alarm clock, now silent and note the time. It was time to go to work. As I get ready for the day my dream kept popping into my mind. I dreamt that I found this necklace. A necklace with shining glass beads with colours circling inside like smoke. I touched the necklace and I slowly turned into a dragon. A few scales at first. Then wings. Clawed hands, a snout and a tail comes next. After about several minutes I grow ten times the size of an average human. Then I woke up. As we have already established.

People say I’m weird. Not just because I worked as an animal cleaner, but also because I believe that dragons do exist. I constantly fantasize them. Almost believing I am a descendant of one at times. My notebook and dream journal are full of stories of these flying reptiles. Myself as one or one as a pet or just dragons in general.

As for what an “animal cleaner;’ does, I do the nasty stuff other people don’t want to do. Clean teeth, Wash the animals, Clean the waste. You know: the undesirable parts of working with animals. I head out the door on that note and remember to get my bag on the way out. the rest of the cleaning materials are at the center. I work at a zoo that houses some of the most rare and dangerous creatures. Snakes, white tigers, hippos, etc. Can you guess which animal is my favourite? you got it, the snakes. they are so closely related to dragons who would think otherwise. that and lizards. Any reptile really. anyway, Im blabbing, back to the story.
