Chapter 1
the day moved on as usual in chang'an but soon, the cloud turned dark and lightening began to strike. everyone took cover as it began to tear buildings apart. the imperial soldiers mounted their horses and galloped to the heart of battle.
"yu'er, is this battle our last." the general asked as they galloped.
"we have reinforcement."
Qiao Lian's POV
after much fist exchange with the monk. he started using his inner powers. I attacked him steadily holding my defence in place. he fought vigorously as if his only aim was to kill me. he sent his palm forward to knock me out but I caught it with two fingers. my iris turned blue and my inner dragon was unleashed.
the impact from the released dragon sent him flying far from me. from a distance, you could see the energy of the dragon emitting from my body and my arm outstretched as if waiting for something to come into it.
the imperial soldiers arrived at the warfront and halted. Xiao yu alighted from his horse and walked to the place where the dragon princess sword had fallen. it was glowing and the inscriptions ok it were shining bright.
in a flash, the sword was gone. sent direct into her hand and the shock wave sent every standing thing to the ground. half of the palace's roof were torn open.
"Yu, it seems like we're not gonna be of much help. the energy emitting from both warriors are not ordinary. any more shockwave spells our own doom." the general said amidst the hurricane that was building up.
"I'm not ordinary." Xiao yu said and closed his eyes. he found his way into the mind of the dragon princess.
Qiao Lian's POV
just as I was still building an impenetrable field for myself. I felt someone trying to use telepathy to communicate with me. I got distracted and let my guard down and I felt his palm on my chest. the energy in my body died and blood ran from a side in my mouth. my survival instinct kicked and I filled power in my sword and ran it through him. that was his end. he evaporated from existence while I fell lifelessly to the ground as the power in my sword slowly died out. I soon lost consciousness and the rest were blurry.
Xiao yu opened his eyes and made a short gasp. he sighed and turned back with a reassuring look.
"the battle is over."
the imperial soldiers slowly approached the gates of the palace as messengers began to run about delivering news. the sky slowly began to clear and rain started falling accompanied with heavy lightening strikes.
In an inn close to the gates of the city, a man dressed in black tattered hoodie looked out through the window watching the movement of the lightening.
"her life force is low, it's a miracle she's alive!" he muttered.
*the daming palace*
six of the imperial princes gathered round their table chattering mostly about the incident that happened few days ago. they drank and laughed while the maids moved about doing their jobs.
"Xiao yu just went about being lazy, you couldn't even draw your sword and attack a beauty." Xiao ming, the last born teased and the other burst into laughter while Xiao yu just sipped his drink slowly. he was quiet in all endeavors and obviously, he was stronger than all the princes seated.
"not that he couldn't draw his blade, who knows maybe his sight instincts told him that was his future wife " the third prince teased again and all of them burst into loud laughter.
Xiao yu stood up and dropped his cup slowly.
"I'll leave now." he made a short now and walked out of the room. shortly afterwards, a maid walked in to clear his table.
"who gets angry about a small issue." han Yui Feng blurted. he was the second heir to the han palace.
"there's been new maid recruit starting yesterday. " Xiao ming started.
"and this set are very beautiful!" he said holding an excited face while his brothers looked at him with disgust.
"you hould be learning sword practice and not thinking about women," han xi wei replied almost immediately. he was han Yui Feng younger brother.
"you need to see them yourself." Xiao ming said and stood up holding his cup. "so admirable! " he muttered as he walked slowly towards the door.
Xiao yu walked into his courtyard, swung the door to his study open and walked in. he stood there for some second before thinking about what his third brother had said.
when he was younger, he used to meet the dragon princess secretly but when he learnt of his father's creed. he couldn't keep up with seeing her again.
and that day where she was going head on with the monk, he knew he was the cause of her loss. he wanted so badly to talk to her but didn't find the chance until that day and he felt like he screwed up.
an idea soon came to his mind. he walked back out of his study and headed for his stable. a maid walked right past him without showing any form of respect. he looked back but she was still going.
"you!" his charming voice called out. the maids stopped. she was holding a tray. she turned back and walked to him. he was now convinced that this maid was disrespectful.
"where are your manners?" he asked and she threw her face away from his gaze. he admired her courage.
she had long braided blue hair accompanied with blue irises. he looked at two guards who quickly ran to his side and bowed.
"take her away, give her a hundred lashes of horse whip." he commanded and walked away. he heard the sound of breaking tray but he decided to turn a deaf ear.
