Wrong genre but good book
"This was a good book, I enjoyed the characters, the background, the plotline was solid for a shifter meets his mate story. The only detraction was the way it was presented. I expected a modern day shifter story and what I read was shifter duck dynasty. Alarick becomes Ricky and it goes downhill from there for a bit. Twists and turns abound in this one then it ends up in a good place. You get your happy ending but the end doesn't come as expected, we get another 15-20 chapters after the apparent last battle. Which is fine, just strange.
If you can ignore the part where your mind says..."What?" and just drive through it then the story picks up and flows nicely. Lots of interactions with the three primary alphas and their mates, it twists and turns a bit when others are brought up. The Luna in the first pack mentioned is a bit of a bitch, far too full of herself and insists on causing her own downfall. The attack on the heroes Luna is a bit weird too, in all the books I have read on shifters...none would allow a danger to stay alive once discovered, but apparently Ricky wants to see what happens and he does, almost to his detriment.
This is a story that will have you saying, "OK, I know what's going to happen" and then turns on you. Then the feeling comes back, only to do a whirling dervish again and change things up. Not in a bad way, just a different spin, if you will. "
