Lost in a New World - 1

Cesar sat on his bed, strumming his guitar and singing to himself. It was a habit he had picked up over the years, practicing even when he wasn’t performing. His guitar was his constant companion, his ticket to the world. He had always dreamed of making it big, but the reality was far from his aspirations.

He looked around his small apartment, taking in the peeling walls and the cracks on the ceiling. It was a place he could barely afford, but it was home. The rent was due in a few days, and Cesar was running low on cash. He sighed and set his guitar aside, feeling defeated.

Cesar had been playing music since he was a child. His parents had given him a small keyboard, and he had taught himself how to play. Over the years, he had picked up other instruments, but the piano remained his favorite. However, it was difficult to carry around, so he mostly played his guitar at gigs.

He had always been drawn to the classics, especially rock and roll. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin were some of his favorites. He also enjoyed modern hits, like Shape of You and Uptown Funk. He would often add his own twist to the songs, incorporating his unique style.

Despite his talent, he struggled to get gigs. He had no idea why he wasn’t getting hired more often. He had a decent following on social media, and his performances were always well-received by the audience. But somehow, the gigs remained elusive.

Cesar checked his phone, scrolling through his contacts list. He had messaged every venue and bar in the area, but none of them had replied. He wondered if he should give up and get a regular job, but the thought of leaving music behind made him shudder.

He stood up and grabbed his backpack, putting in his earphones and his wallet. He always carried his guitar on his right hand, it was his only source of income after all. He left his apartment and headed towards the city center, hoping to find a gig for the night.

As he walked, he hummed a tune, his thoughts drifting to his past performances. He wondered if he could do something different, maybe try a new genre or write his own songs. But he didn’t know where to start. His creativity was limited, and he didn’t have the resources to experiment.

Cesar arrived at the venue, a small bar with a stage at the corner. He had performed here before, and the owner had promised to give him more gigs. But he had yet to fulfill his promise. Cesar approached the owner, introducing himself and asking if there was any space for him to perform.

“I’m sorry, Cesar,” the owner said, shaking his head. “We’re booked for the week. Maybe next time.”

Cesar sighed, feeling dejected. He knew it was a lie. The bar was almost empty, and there was no one on the stage. He suspected that the owner had no interest in giving him more gigs.

He walked out of the bar, feeling defeated. It was another night without a gig, and he didn’t know how he would pay his rent. He decided to head home, hoping that something would change soon.

Little did he know that his life was about to take a drastic turn.

Cesar let out a deep sigh as he finished packing up his guitar after a particularly disappointing gig. The birthday party had been for a little girl, and while the children had enjoyed his music and had danced along to the tunes, the pay had been meager, barely enough to cover his expenses for the day.

He looked around the dimly lit room, taking in the tired faces of the parents who had organized the party. They were grateful for his performance, but he knew they wouldn’t be calling him back anytime soon. Cesar’s thoughts turned to his own life. He loved music, but it was a constant struggle to make ends meet. Despite his passion for playing the piano, it was too cumbersome to take to gigs, so he had to make do with his trusty guitar.

As he made his way through the streets of Lima, Cesar’s mind wandered to his dreams of making it big in the music industry. He imagined himself on stage, performing to thousands of screaming fans, the sound of his guitar ringing out loud and clear. It was a fleeting thought, quickly pushed aside by the reality of his situation.

Cesar had been playing music for years, honing his skills and mastering a range of genres, from classical to rock to pop. But despite his talents, he struggled to find steady work, often relying on small gigs at local bars and cafes to make ends meet. He had a handful of regular clients, but they paid very little and his earnings were barely enough to cover his rent and bills.

As he walked, Cesar hummed a tune to himself, lost in thought. He thought about his latest song, one he had written himself, pouring his heart and soul into the lyrics. It was a song about his struggles as a musician, his determination to keep going even when the odds were stacked against him.

Finally, Cesar arrived at his small apartment, located in a rundown building in a less than desirable part of town. It was a cramped space, but it was all he could afford. He set down his guitar and took off his backpack, sinking onto the couch with a sigh.

“Another day, another gig,” he muttered to himself, running a hand through his dark hair. “When am I going to catch a break?”

As he sat there, lost in thought, his mind wandered to the possibility of a better life. He had heard stories of people who had made it big in the music industry, of artists who had become household names overnight. But for Cesar, it felt like a distant dream, one that was always just out of reach.

With a heavy heart, Cesar picked up his guitar and began to strum, the sound filling the small apartment. It was a comfort to him, a reminder of why he loved music so much. As he played, his thoughts drifted, and he found himself wishing for something more, something different.

Little did he know, that wish was about to come true in a way he could never have imagined.
