Mid book review - Sometimes, less is more
"This story is written as though english is not the authors first language. It's not the misspellings, which don't show up much in the first 10 chapters but then seem to be everywhere, it's that the words themselves are spelled as though it was translated wrong. Now having said that, it doesn't detract from the story, you can still figure out what was intended but it is important to know. The story itself seems to be straightforward, the plot seems typical for the most part, as shifter tales about meeting ones mate are. But once you get to about a third of the book it goes off the rails. Everything you think you know so far is wrong. Not just a plot twist, it's like you missed a third of the book that suddenly showed up and now everything you thought you knew about the female lead is wrong. Imagine a story where the 2nd POV is invisible to the reader and only when you get to a certain point in the book it becomes clear. That's what this feels like. The first couple of times it happens I just rolled with it, expecting something else to happen to explain it, but then it got worse. I honestly don't know if I want to continue. It's taking forever to get to an end. I'm 45 chapters in to a 64 chapter novel, that isn't finished by the way, but there's so much going on that I can't make sense of it. It's too bad really, it had such promise. But it was ruined by too much going on and too much changing for no good reason that I can see. "
