Sprites

A spirit, a mythical fairy-like creature that love to be near water. Sometimes are tricksters. For this book they love to inhabit spaces between space and expanding them to suit their needs and the needs of those they share them with. They have a slight obsession helping others with personal hygiene.

Yemaya

Many paths and aspects to this Orisha. She is depicted as a mermaid and synchronized with the Virgin Mary and also as Our Lady of Navigators. Navigator/marines in Albanian is Marinak and for this second installment, I have named a member of the twelve Marina. She is the mother of the Ondine’s and all other water supernaturals. In the practice of voodoo she is also called Yemaya.

Amarok

Or also known as Amaroq is a gigantic wolf in the Inuit religion. They do not hunt in packs and are often mistaken for direwolves that are now extinct. For the purposes of this novel they are an isolated tribe of Inuit shifters. Never shown in a bad light and have not lost touch with the gifts most other werewolves have almost abandoned, becoming more assimilated to human society.

Kitsune

Fox shifter, typically nonviolent in nature. They are the size of a small breed of non-shifting wolf. They always have more than one tail, but a nine tail kitsune is like a needle in a hay stack. They are the most powerful amongst the kitsune. They have magical powers, super natural abilities not fully known, almost immortal and very enlightened. They have the ability to heal from severe injuries very quickly. Their only weakness is injury to the heart and decapitation. The nine tail Kitsune was believed to be extinct as the last one on record was documented four thousand years ago.

Empusa

Shapeshifting female supernatural, Were hunted into extinction or so they thought, for the pure copper within their bone structure. Thought to be the daughter of Hecate and the spirit Mormo. She lured men that were rapists and abusers to their death by feeding off of them and leeching the copper from their bodies.

Jinn

Or sometimes referred to Djinn. Often male and female, but there are rare cases they are genderless or gender fluid. They were said to exist long before humans and manifest in a multitude of forms and very powerful. They too came from another dimension that was being ripped apart by war. Typically nocturnal and despise the cold, iron, wolves as it is their weakness. Are almost immortal if not fatally injured. Masters of magic, flight, invisibility, precognition and possession, strength, speed, wish granting, inducing sickness.

Thunderbird

A creature known to the indigenous people of North America. A supernatural being of power and strength. Creating thunder with its wings and lightning with its eyes. Appears as a giant eagle. A great Mountain floats in the western sky unseen by human eyes. Control the rain and hail. They love to fight and perform deeds of kindness. Only weak as younglings and often captured by extreme kindness as they are very naïve when young.

In the United States it is a small store that sells herbs and traditional remedies, along with charms, incense, candles and other items used for religious or spiritual purposes.

Nephthys

A prominent goddess in ancient Egyptian mythology. She is associated with death, decay and the afterlife. Sister of Isis and wife of Seth. She is the mother of Anubis. She is depicted with wings.
