Aftermath

"TODOROKI!!"

Touya yelled my name as he hurled towards me, ready with his flames. Bloody wounds and burns cover my body as I bring all my strength into my hands.

"FLASH FIRE FIST!!"

Touya and I yelled in unison as we sent flames hurling towards each other. The pain of the burns on my arms were so excruciating I could barely move them to keep emitting power from my hand. I soon couldn't keep my strength together and Touya's flames sent me flying backwards. My eyes went wide in fear as I thought about every possible thing that could go wrong at this point. Touya pushed me hard against the brick wall behind me. He pinned me by my shoulders and burned me with his fire. I yelled in pain. I couldn't even lift my arms to blast him back. Even the slightest movement radiated pain all throughout my body.

"Just give up Shoto!! YOU KNOW YOU CANT FIGHT ME!"

Touya smashed me on the brick wall repeatedly until blood came spewing out of my mouth. He kicked me up in the air and let me fall to the rough concrete.

"Touya.."

I was so high in the air it's like I was flying. I suddenly dropped down from the sky, my limbs weak and limp. I was nearing the ground.

"YOU GONNA FIGHT ME SHOTO?!"

We've been going on about this for hours. I don't want to give up, but there's nothing else to do.. I cant move, I can't summon my powers, and I certainly can't beat him with being physical.

I'm done for..

I finally hit the ground. my head knocked against a piece of debris from a destroyed car. The ringing from hitting my head was overtaking my ears. The ringing was all I could hear. Everything seemed distant. I could hardly hear my friends screaming for me in the distance. Midoriya had appeared above me, shaking me and telling me to get up. Soon the ringing got much louder and all I could see was his lips moving, and tears falling down his cheek. I felt my eyes starting to close. and I worried that I would never open them again.

..3 Days later..

I woke up in a hospital bed laying on my side.

It was quiet...

Why was it so quiet?

I lifted my head up and looked out the window. There were police cars and news vans. The lights were flashing and there were friends of people, but despite that, there was no sound. I saw the door open in the corner of my eye and saw a familiar face.

"Todoroki-kun, you're awake!"

It's was midoriya. I knew he was talking, but why couldn't I hear him?

I didn't go deaf.. did i..?

"Hey."

That's weird.

I cant hear myself speak.

I tried my best to read his lips as Midoriya kept talking, but he started talking so fast I couldn't follow what he was saying.

What the hell is going on?!

I could feel tears trying to drip down, but I can't cry. Not in front of Midoriya.. He's already a sensitive and selfless person, seeing me cry will make everything worse. How the hell am I going to communicate with him if I can't even hear myself?

I had zoned out and hadn't realized that Midoriya was talking to me again.

"Todoroki? Hey, you can talk to me..!"

"I- I can't.."

I repeated what I said, expecting to hear my voice, but I heard nothing. I looked at Midoriya’s lips. He kept talking but I could figure out a word he was saying.

“I can’t hear you..”

“Oh, do you want me to speak louder?”

"I- I can't-"

I repeated what I said, expecting to hear my voice. What's going on..?! I put my hands on my throat to feel the vibrations of my voice. I spoke as I choked on tears.

"G-get a nurse.."

"Todoroki..? What-"

"Get a nurse!"
