Blind Hope
The sun had set on the city as the five criminals gathered in the dimly lit back room of an abandoned warehouse. They had been planning this heist for weeks, and the tension in the room was palpable.
Tom, the mastermind behind the heist, was pacing back and forth, his eyes darting between the other four criminals gathered in the room. He was the only one who knew all the details of the plan, and he was determined to make sure that everything went smoothly.
Across from him sat Jack, the muscle of the group. He was a burly man with a shaved head and a thick beard, his muscles bulging under his t-shirt. Next to him was Mia, the inside woman. She had been working at the target location for months and had access to all the key information they needed.
Beside Mia was the hacker, Sam. He was hunched over his laptop, fingers flying over the keys as he worked to bypass the security systems they would encounter. The final member of the group was Aaron, the wildcard. He was a wiry man with a wild look in his eyes, and Tom wasn’t quite sure he could trust him.
Tom cleared his throat, bringing everyone’s attention to him. “Alright, here’s the plan,” he began, laying out the details of the heist. He explained how they would gain entry to the building, how they would bypass the security measures, and what they would need to do to get away with the loot.
As Tom spoke, the other members of the group nodded in agreement, asking questions and offering their input. But as the meeting wore on, Tom began to sense that something was off. Mia was fidgeting nervously in her seat, and Aaron was smirking in a way that made Tom uneasy.
Finally, as the meeting was wrapping up, Tom heard a sound that made his blood run cold. It was the sound of a phone camera clicking. He spun around, his eyes locking on Aaron’s phone. “What the hell are you doing?” he growled.
Aaron shrugged, a devilish grin on his face. “Just taking some selfies. What’s the big deal?”
Tom knew in that moment that he had a traitor in his midst. He had to act quickly to keep the heist from going sideways. But the question was, who could he trust?
Tom spent the next few days trying to figure out who the traitor was. He kept a close eye on each member of the group, watching for any signs of deception or betrayal. But no matter how hard he looked, he couldn’t find any evidence.
Finally, on the night of the heist, Tom gathered the group together for a final briefing. They were all dressed in black, their faces obscured by masks, ready to make their move.
Tom pulled Mia aside before they left, his voice low and urgent. “I need to know, can I trust you?”
Mia looked him in the eye, her own voice equally low. “You can trust me. I’m in this as deep as you are.”
Tom nodded, satisfied, and the group set off into the night.
They made their way to the target location, a high-security bank on the outskirts of town. Mia led them through the employee entrance, her security badge getting them past the first layer of defenses.
As they moved through the building, Jack took out the security guards they encountered with swift, efficient blows. Sam worked his magic on the security systems, disabling alarms and opening locked doors with ease.
They made their way to the vault, where Mia used her knowledge to bypass the final security measures. They were in.
Tom looked around, his heart racing with excitement. This was it. They were going to pull off the biggest heist in the city’s history.
But then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw something that made his blood run cold. Aaron was holding a gun, his eyes fixed on Tom.
Tom knew in that moment that the traitor had been found. But it was too late to do anything about it.
“Sorry, Tom,” Aaron said, a sickening smile on his face. “But it’s just business.”
And with that, he pulled the trigger.
