Something Else - Spiceseeker

"Okay... wow. I'm still processing. If you're already familiar with Spiceseeker's books, you know all of this. You don't need me. Go read it. If you're not familiar... also go read it. Just pick one, start anywhere, and hold on. Here's what I can tell you without ruining anything. Imagine 1970s music and 1980s styling and a car that the author clearly has complicated feelings about, all wrapped around a contemporary romance that has absolutely no business working given any of those ingredients. And yet. It works. Weirdly, completely, warmly works. Everything about the setup wants to go somewhere campy and smutty. The cover, the title, the whole vibe walks up, fist bumps you, whispers the title in your ear, and struts away. You think you know exactly what you're holding. You don't. Ray is genuinely funny in the way that only slightly delusional men with excellent taste in cars can be. Alice is the kind of woman who has been quietly running the whole situation from the beginning and lets you figure that out slowly. Their dynamic is real. Specific. The kind of specific that only comes from someone writing from actual memory rather than a character template. There are feelings here. Warm ones. The slow build between these two has genuine tension and when the steam arrives, and it does arrive, it earns it. And yes. Nipplegasm happens. Because honestly, given everything, it was always going to happen. That's all I'll say. Here's my one note for the author. You undersell this book a little. The title is campy. The covers are one dimensional. All that is fine, nothing to worry about here on Inkitt. Readers are not here for the packaging. They're here for the book. And the book can sit next to every other contemporary romance on Inkitt and hold its ground completely. Better than most, honestly. It's fun, warm, feel good, and you will not be embarrassed for having read it. Even if you have to explain the title to someone. Just read it, trust me, you'll feel good about your decision! Brilliant

"Another masterpiece from Spiceseeker. His writing never fails to disappoint from stories that are real, descriptive and memorable, and as his username suggests, with spice. He truly is one of a kind, and every story I've read of his (or biographies hehe) are just captivating and something I can never put down "

Things you need to know in life

"I’ve honestly never tried getting myself off with olive oil but it’s on my list now. Another fantastic piece by the Spice Master himself. Ray’s internal narrative was spot on and I found myself getting a little irritated at Alice for basically teasing the hell out of Ray only to leave him hard up. Bad sportsmanship Alice. "
