Chapter 1
New school
Everything seemed to be different in this school. As I walked through the school corridor to locate the principal's office to collect my schedule everyone was minding their own business not even a single eyelash was batted in my direction and that's how I love it I hate drama and try to avoid problems anywhere I go.
"How may I help you?"I realized I had been standing outside the administration office.
"I..uhm I'm new here.."
"Amelia heart right?"the fairly old lady asked
"Umm... yeah.. yeah"
"Here's your schedule and oh before I forget Samantha will be showing you to your classes everyday until you get the hang of it okay? nice day"she said while I nodded my head
I started looking around while waiting for the said "Samantha". The school looked fancy and clean no wonder the people who went here were children of celebrities and rich business men. I was lucky to secure a scholarship here because of my good grades. I had applied earlier this week and surprisingly it came quick.
"Mmh" someone cleared their throat behind me
"Hi my name is Sam and I'll be showing you to your classes" she said as she provided her hand for me to shake.
"Hi I..uh..am new here"I was a stuttering mess I was shocked by her beauty she had brown hair that ran to her shoulder and immaculate white teeth. She had a slender figure and something about her seemed familiar but I didn't know why I brushed it off telling my self maybe she's a model I saw on television.
My first class went on smoothly people here seem nice unlike my previous school where you would get bullied by mean girls and get stupid comments from the jocks. My last thing was to sign up for one of the school compulsory clubs which was every Friday and since I loved music I decided to sign up with the help of Sam and her friends Lynn, Jojo, Kylie and Kenzie. They were all nice explaining to me every detail of the school and also invited me to join their girl group
After my last class I went straight home lying to the girls I had something to do but it was true because I worked overnight shift to earn money to pay my bills. I also left early because I live a little far away from school and I had to walk home
I was born to a single mom because my dad left her when he found out she was pregnant. I lived with my mom until I was five years old then she passed away from acute pneumonia since she didn't have enough money to visit a hospital. Since I had no other relatives I grew up on my own under the guidance of our neighbour who was a good friend to my mom.
I opened the door to my house after two hours of work my eyes heavy with sleep. I didn't bother to clean up as I threw myself on the bed and sleep overtook me as I started dreaming.
"...... my name is sky what about you"a young boy of about five years old asks a younger Amelia
"Amelia but mommy calls me Amy"she says
"And iam Sam sky's twin do you want to play with us"
"Yes I don't want to be alone mummy is dead and no one wants to play with me"Amy says
"Who brought you"sky asked
"I come alone"
"Don't worry we'll play together from today"sky told her as a younger Amy nodded.
"Kkrrrrrrr"Amy was awoken by the loud sounding of an alarm .
She rolled out of bed with a groan and going straight to the bathroom to get cleaned up not forgetting the dream she just had of her childhood.
She was once friends with certain twins who played with her at the park everyday and provided her with everything she lacked until one day they moved away when they were twelve because their dad had established his successful company in another town and just like that their friendship turned into memories. They had gone to the same school and they were her only friends so she remained lonely and devoted her life to her studies to have a better life in future. That's what had led her to try her luck to apply for the Kimberly scholarship program which she knew was run by Jamie Kimberly her former friends father but she had no idea she would soon meet her friends and wasn't prepared for the change they had undergone.
Amelia sat down at lunch with her friends and she figured Sam was staring at her awkwardly. She turned to her"what?"
"Nothing it's just like you look like someone special I used to know back then"
"Really what's her name"Amy asked
"I think you both share the first name"
"Amelia?"
Yeah her name's Amelia heart"Sam said
"What that's my nam- wait you're Kimberly? Samantha Kimberly? My childhood friend?"Amelia asked her eyes almost popping out
Samantha stood up crying and embraced her friend shouting that she missed her
After classes Samantha was pulling Amelia to the car park area to meet sky because that's where him and his friends usually hang out after classes fooling around before heading home
As they approached a group of boys she felt like chickening out because they had been apart for so long she didn't know what to say to him. Some of them she had met yesterday because Sam had introduced her and they were actually nice to her
The moment sky's eyes fell on her he froze but he didn't speak to her infact he pretended not to notice her and let her speak to his friends. Sam pretended to take his friends away to get the girls from class to give them time to talk.
"Hi" she said meekly to him but the moment she said that his jaw clenched and unclenched and he walked right passed her as if she had not been speaking to him.
As soon as he did that tears flooded her eyes and at the corner of her eyes she noticed that Sam had seen the whole thing. She turned around and ran as fast as she could not turning to the voice of Sam calling behind her
She ran until she could run no more she was out of breath and she wasn't thinking straight. She could not believe that this was the same person who was her friend back then the one who had played with her when no one else would, the one who gave her food when she would go hungry, the very same one who protected her when she was being bullied, she could not believe that he had changed.
She wiped her tears and told herself she would talk to him tomorrow
"Maybe he was just in a bad mood..or maybe he didn't notice it was me" she reassured herself. That night before sleep overtook her she held the necklace he had given her for her tenth birthday and said to herself
"I hope you haven't changed I've spent all my life looking for you even in social media platforms hell that's the reason I moved here with hopes of meeting your dad who would lead me to you but I'm scared that I've found you too late when you don't care about me anymore" with that she slipped into slumber.
