Chapter 1
His name was Gary. He did not know anything else and this was the only thing that he knew. He could not think straight or remember where he was. The only thing that he remembered was that his name was Gary. That, he could not let go.
Gary got up off the cold tile floor he fell asleep on.
"Ouch" Gary said as he felt the huge gash in his forehead.
He walked over to the nearby mirror in the cold white room. He tried to look around but the main thing he would have to focus on is breathing. He could barley breathe this dry, crisp air.
When he got to the mirror he looked at his head. The gash in his forehead did not look as severe as he thought it was. He tried to remember what happened to him and why there were stitches in his forehead. (COME ONE GARY THINK!!! WHY IS THERE A GASH IN YOUR FOREHEAD???) He could not wrap his head around it. Gary walked away from the mirror.
Instead of looking for something to explain what happened to him he wanted to go exploring this interesting white room but before he could he saw a white payphone. Finally! Something to get him out of this awful room that he could barley breathe in!
He walked over and next to the payphone lay a note, written in some black material. The material was not ink-like at all. More like charcoal but it did not smell like it. Could it be rotten flesh? He did not know and did not want to know so he brushed the thought off to his side.
Gary looked at the note carefully. It said to "Not listen to the man on the phone" and to "dial (434) 789-1467" He thought for a moment. He could not decide if he wanted to listen to the note. He looked around the white room for an answer but did not find one and that was when the room went completely black.
Now he had to dial the number but he couldn't see what it was. Then, a voice projected into the room.
"Gary" the voice said. "I need you to listen to me very carefully. Do not listen to that note. Do not dial that number. Do not open those gates that lie beyond our own eyes. If you do so, I will personally make your prison time longer for what you did. You don't remember as of right now but you will within these next few hunts I will assign you on. Do you accept these hunts?"
Gary tried to think. He could not see anything but the air got so much colder. He thought about what the hunts could be. He was not sure if he wanted to do them. He didn't even know what they were.
"Yes I accept them." Gary spoke out into the darkness.
"Very well. We will meet very soon but for now I must warn you, you are in the dog house right now boy. You cannot let them see you, for they will not like what I am telling you. Now put down the phone before they come. Pretend that you are dead. I will turn the lights back on now."
Gary had not even realized that he had the phone. He did not remember picking it up. He also did not know why he had called him a boy, even though he could not remember his age. And he was in the dog house? What was that supposed to mean? He did not dial that number. Why had he accepted these requests? Gary would supposedly soon find out.
