Chapter 1: Flame Tornado

"Now, Yuma, you've mastered the Sixth Form. Now you need to learn the seventh." Rengoku said, instructing Yuma Kuwajima, his apprentice. Yuma had been learning from Rengoku since Yuma's family was slain by demons. He was learning Flame Breathing and had mastered six of the eight forms. "The seventh form is called Flame Tornado. Stick your sword out, like this," Rengoku drew his sword and stuck it straight outward, "Now spin it as fast as you can," Rengoku spun his blade, "It doesn't matter which way, clockwise or counterclockwise will both work." Rengoku explained. "By now, you should know that taking a strong stance and a deep breath in is universal for all Flame Breathing forms." Rengoku added. Yuma stuck his blade outwards, took a strong stance and deep breath in, and spun his sword as fast as he could. Flames burst from the blade, in a circular motion.

"Perfect!" Rengoku exclaimed. "We'll work on it over the next few days." He added. Yuma nodded. Yuma's messenger crow flew over and landed on Yuma's shoulder. "Squawk! Save! Save! You must save a village being raided by demons! Save! Save!" The crow said. "Alright, I'm on my way." Yuma replied. The crow flew away. "Looks like that's my cue." Yuma said. Rengoku nodded. "Yes. Go save those people!" Rengoku said. Yuma drew his sword. He had learned he could travel faster if he used the First Flame Breathing form over long periods of time, as the move involved a high speed dash. "Flame Breathing, First Form, Unknowing Fire!" Yuma called out, dashing forward at extremely high speed. Minutes later, he arrived at the target village.

There were ten demons raiding the village, and it was down to Yuma to slay them. One of the demons noticed Yuma. "Look, a slayer!" It yelled. Yuma flashed his blade. "Leave those people alone." He said, firmly. The demons ignored Yuma and continued attacking. "Very well then." Yuma said, drawing his sword, its red blade gleaming in the moonlight. "Flame Breathing, First Form, Unknowing Fire!" Yuma yelled, dashing at the demons with his sword facing outwards. Yuma was able to decapitate one of the demons in a single hit, while the others were harder to slay. "Flame Breathing, Third Form, Blazing Universe!" Yuma yelled out, slashing downwards and beheading another demon. There were still eight more he needed to fight. One of the demons came running at Yuma. "Blood Demon Art, Destructive Death!" The demon yelled. Yuma jumped back to avoid the hit. "Destructive Death?" Yuma thought to himself, "That's the same Demon Art Akaza used." He whispered to himself. Yuma jumped forward and slashed his blade, trying to cut the demon's neck. He failed. "Flame Breathing, Second Form, Rising Scorching Sun!" Yuma yelled, slashing upwards diagonally, beheading not only the demon in front on him, but also the demon standing behind the first demon.

The other six demon stood their ground and lined up in a row, ready to face Yuma. Yuma ran to their side and stuck his blade outward. "Flame Breathing, First Form, Unknowing Fire!" Yuma yelled, dashing forward and decapitating all six with one strike. The battle was over, Yuma had won. The townsfolk thanked Yuma. "You came just in time! Thanks to you everyone is safe." One of the townsfolk said. "We can't thank you enough!" They told Yuma. Regardless of the horrible propaganda the government had put out about the slayers, the townsfolk still believed the demon slayers were doing them a good service. Yuma felt good to be helping so many people.
