As wTHE MATCH 23rd OCT 2022

INDIA VS PAKISTAN

As we all know India and Pakistan have the greatest rivalries of all time. Nobody can deny how intense and vigorous these matches are! India won the toss and elected to field first.

Being someone who recommends fielding first I felt anxious. Now you may ask why? Because I feel like it is way easier as you know the target and you know how much of a capability the other team has. Anyways relying on God and our exceptional team I sat there looking vulnerable not knowing what is going to happen either we will win or learn. The beautiful melody of the national anthem took over the stadium in Melbourne. Both the teams ready to fight for their countries, their pride and their passion. Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam our openers came on the pitch with Rizwan facing the first ball. The ball hit the hand of Rizwan. Oh, believe me at that time I started losing hope but I knew we at least have Babar on the pitch. When Babar started playing, I was expecting a lot from the powerful batsman, but my thoughts were completely different from the reality. Yes! you guessed it right Babar Azam got out on the first ball. it’s alright Shan Masood was there. Shan was exemplary and please do not forget Iftikhar. The man stole the spotlight! Iftii chacha was shining! The fours and sixes made the competitor’s heartbeat like there was a wild animal trying to escape from their chest. After some while Iftikhar also got out. The batsman came and got out quickly and at last the fierce Shaheen Shah Afridi came and treated us with a six and a four. Haris came gave the team a six.

IT WAS OUR TURN TO FIELD

Oh yes! we got the pace, yes, we do! Naseem Shah the fiery bowler stepped on the pitch to bless your ears with the noise of the stumps falling on the ground. The star did it! Shaheen came and threw some magnificent balls. The deadly and tremendous Haris Rauf was simply unplayable. He got Suryakumar out cheaply who is the best of best. The pace of Haris is not a joke, and the world knows about it. Our bowling attack is one of the most powerful in the world and you cannot deny the fact. At this moment my face was gleaming with confidence I was very proud like all the Pakistani brothers and sisters. When the legendry Virat Kohli stepped on the field, it was our turn to face the best. The match was going good until the last 2 overs. Can’t even say 2 overs how about 1 and a half over when Virat started hitting sixes. If it weren’t those we would have won, the match. They gave the last over to Nawaz. In my opinion Nawaz is a gem but the last over should not have been given to him. He plays well as an all-rounder but I’m still feeling gloomy about the last over. The umpires also made mistakes under immense pressure. On the last over I was also too anxious. My legs were as wobbly as jelly, and I felt like I was in the belly of a beast. Mama was giving me hope while I was praying for victory. At last my eyes got misty, and throat was dry. I ran to drink water I felt like a huge weight was on my head. I couldn’t control the ocean of tears which wanted to escape my eyes. Not caring who sees me I hugged Areeba and started weeping. The tears ran down my face while I watched India celebrate. I never cried on a cricket match I never thought I ever will. Well played boys!! they tried their best.

At last, as I said, “either you win, or you learn”. It was a good lesson for all of us too. We tried our best to fight for that one run, but the unfairness of the umpires can never be forgotten. Cricket is such a game that it feels like a rollercoaster, it brings us together especially us Pakistanis. if I would describe our team in a sentence, it would be “one minute down next minute up”. Cricket reminds us that we are one and we share the same passion as our rivals. We are the believers, and cricket unites us. So, the next time when someone tells you.

“Cricket is just a game” tell them it’s not just a game, it’s our passion!

THE MATCH 23rd OCT 2022
