Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Pilot

Catherine looked on both the sides of corridor making sure no one was there to hear her. She had to do this every time she turned on her bleeper.

When she found it safe she turned on her bleeper that started with a screeching sound due to the shift in the frequency. She hated this noise.

Covering the speaker of her bleeper with her palm she only wished for one thing- no one should hear this noise.

She sighed with a relief when a familiar voice started to speak from the other end.

“Madam Catherine, Highness wants to meet you urgently”

The urgency in Alice’s voice always worried Catherine. What if the stone is stolen? Or what if the heir of possessors found a way to connect to the stone or actually found it’s linking stone?

Just the thought froze her to an imaginary death of which she was always afraid.

A chill ran up Catherine’s spine despite the fact that it was a sunny day outside and also the fact that she possessed frosty powers which were still under practice.

“Madam Catherine?” Alice spoke a little louder which made Catherine jump. “Are you there?”

There was a glitch in the bleeper but she knew she was needed there. At Brooklyn’s palace.

“Alice!” Catherine hissed. “Can you speak a little less loudly? My ears stings now” she calmed her down. More like calmed herself down.

What could be the emergency? Catherine thought for a second but wasting no time she ran to her closet, taking out an old box which held a stone. A teleportation stone.

She quickly took out the stone and held in her hands staring at how cold it felt against her palms.

“Telepuerto” she chanted the words to herself holding the blue stone tightly.

And all of a sudden she froze, the frost traveled up her hands to the rest of her body. Her eyes turned blue out of cold and her hair started to bleach, from roots to her tips. It wasn’t new to her. Just a bit painful.

Soon she found herself in the more familiar place. Place she spent her 11 years. With her real parents.

The Rime Valley.

She found herself in the familiar pastel blue cloth draped around her frame.

She’s been here for the past 4 years for practicing her powers. To control them.

Back in the room she knew was her, standing with frost all over her body; frozen to death. The body she left behind which was materialistic. Just a way to survive on Earth when she knows she’s been dying inside for the past 12 years of her living.

She glanced at the huge castle in front of her; the colour of which was white and blue and now covered with snow.

The good old days, she remembers.

“Majesty” She bowed down to Brooklyn with one knee down and one up touching her chest as the tip of her sword touched the cold floor of the court room.

“Catherine” Brooklyn addressed her with a nod and she stood up.

Brooklyn’s fair face showcased a frown with her lips twitched in an upward fashion.

“Walk with me Catherine” she said and walked towards the Sub- Rosa chamber of the palace. A place she’s gotten familiar in these 4 years of visiting and practicing.

“What’s fretting you Highness?” She asked, anxious herself.

Her brown eyes darkened with fear and her tanned skin turned pale.

“Catherine there is this anomalous situation we’ve reached” Brooklyn spoke with uneasiness as she inserted the digital code to unlock the Sub-Rosa chamber.

As the system accepted the code, the large iron doors opened, creaking a bit as the thin layer of ice over them cracked revealing something absolutely ghastly.

The sight in front of her left her astound.

The glass electronic screen was beeping indicating thousands of radars moving close to the Golden stone. Making it’s existence on the verge of risk and danger.

It appalled her beyond wits. They’d always kept it under their sanctuary since the world shattered for Catherine.

Brooklyn’s blue eyes scanned the stone once than she turned towards Catherine, meeting her brown ones.

She was confused but more scared.

When Catherine spoke nothing Brooklyn explained her. “They’ve found a way to connect to the stone which probably means they are either establishing their their network in water forces or they’ve found its location”.

Catherine looked at the stone; it was dim today which meant something is actually wrong and that she have to prepared before all goes down the drain.

“But how are we gonna save it?” She muttered and all Brooklyn did was to keep a neutral face that Catherine couldn’t decode.

Catherine could feel the chills and pain in her body every time she thought about that.

She remembered the time when her parents were the most coherent custodian of the stone. The stone that possessed multiple powers.

But the Royal Angels killed her family, demolished their existence as they were accused of being corrupt.

But one mistake and stone abolished their powers temporarily which they knew could only be restored with years of practicing.

So they ran from being totally powerless.

Brooklyn made sure that stone was under their protection but also knew that one day Rime Royals would come for it.

Catherine’s choice of staying on Earth was a hard decision but she had to make it. Because that was the only way she could stop them. She wanted to. To bring justice to her family.

But now it will be tougher than earlier. She knows.

The ride back to her house was painful for Catherine with worry and vengeance clouding her senses. And all she had to use to travel back was her brain!

While she was still reeling from the sensation she heard Mrs.Grey calling out to her, again!

Human parents couldn’t do without checking on their kids every five minutes or so as if a dragon would gulp them whole or an apocalypse would occur if they didn’t.

Talking of apocalypse if she didn’t chalk out a plan soon it wouldn’t be too far after all.

“Yes Mum” she replied absent minded, the word Mum still gnawing her insides.

Quickly she kept the stone back to its place and went to open the door for her.

“What took you so long?” she asked “And holy gracious how is it freezing here? She wrapped her arms around herself and her lips chattered.

There was a look of worry and confusion on her face that made Catherine’s heart sore.

Despite all the problems this women dealt with, in her life she would always ... ALWAYS ... try to be there for her family.

Maybe that’s the only constant in every dimension. The motherly care.

Sipping on the coffee that Mrs Grey made her, Catherine took out her mind-o-meter and began thinking of some strategy to bring down the Saxons, as the device made notes of her thoughts.

According to latest update the youngest heir of the Saxons was on Earth to establish their network in aquatic forces of the planet. So this would be the best time to execute her plan. But she should be prepared for anything.

Attack the enemy when he is at his vulnerable best. And this was not the time to get even! To finally make them pay for all the sins they were guilty of ... towards her and towards her entire race! She thought but she wasn’t sure how.

Despite all the things,a fresh wave of determination pulsed by vengeance surged through her entire being as she thought of her family and prepared herself to meet Brooklyn again. And this time with some solid information.

She decided to embark on the journey which was the ultimate purpose of her life before the first ray of sun hit the planet Earth.
