1-Ezra

Cold. That's the only thing December had to offer, if was calming, standing by the dork in nothing but shorts anda sweat shirt, the weather numbed me, allowed me think of something other than my life. Watching the little ripples in the small pond I felt compelled to look at me reflection, wanting to know if my outside looked half as bad as my insides felt.

"Ezra hurry." I heard Jake shout from a distance followed by loud laughter. He was my best friend, been so for as long as I've lived but even he didn't know about the internal battle I contantanly fought with myself. I should feel happy that it's Friday morning, every normal teenager would feel that way but even I know I passed being normal nearly a decade ago. Turning my back to the pond I headed towards the light blue car that sat a few steps away with Jake sitting on the hood of the car his eyes trained on his phone. "Ready?" He asked lifting his eyes to meet mine after hearing my approaching footsteps. Nodding once he jumped off the hood of the car taking the passengers seat while I entered the drivers. 'his personal entourage.' as he liked to call me, it was his car but he never drove it, meaning I took him pretty much and even got to keep the car, at this point I was almost convinced he didn't have a drivers license even after watching him attend driving school. But I didn't mind, it allowed me enjoy an everyday midnight drive not having to worry about breaking down in the middle of the road like my car would've done. "off to school." Jake yelled not looking as enthusiastic as he sounded. Sarcasm, I noted. That was sarcasm.

The drive to school consisted of very off tune singing from Jake and a lot of cringing from me. I loved him, because I knew for a fact that if he wasn't in the car with me I probably would've died in my own thoughts, and I think he knew so too. I hated silence, he did too or maybe it was just his inability to keep quite.

"Get out." I grunted as soon as I made it to our usual parking lot only earning a cheesy grin in return but he got out never the less.

I envied Jake's forever smiling face wondering how my life would've been if I looked like that.

"Lunch?" he asked with a raised brow.

"Lunch." I replied with a nod watching as he let loose a smile and hurried off into school.

Scanning the hallway with weary eyes I let out a sigh before heading off to class.

******************************

Darkness, I hated darkness, I was sitting in darkness. My breathing paced as I sluggishly dragged myself to my feet trying hard to make out the objects in the room through the darkness. I had completely lost track of time, searching around the table for my phone I heaved a breath of relief when I finally found it and quickly turned on the light. 7:32pm the time read, gathering my books I forced them messily into my bag before swinging it over my shoulder and rushing out. How could I be so stupid. I knew no one at home would notice I was gone....they never did. I had finally made it to the back exit groaning when I found the door locked. Turning back to look for another way out I felt my heart stop when something came crashing into the window from the side of the hall. A body landed unto the floor before rolling and stopping beside the wall.

"Fuck." The voice groaned stretching from the awkward position. A female. Was the first thing I noticed as I watched wide-eyed. She stood to her feet running towards the window and screaming out what I assumed were curses in a language I did not understand. She groaned loudly again running a hand through her hair before finally taking notice of the light shown in her direction. Her eyes met mine, Vibrant green... Beautiful. My eyes widened at my thoughts as a smirk made its way to her face.
