10,000 HOURS

Today too nothing changed, circumstances could not allow them to take a next step Or to reach the next level. Like every other day they were stuck with the same thing, Running here and there for approvals, waiting for replies and as usual they got no reply. All they got was just Disappointment but that was expected.

Aaron: Did we get any reply?

He asked, sitting at the corner of the bed, his wife who just released a sigh of disappointment after seeing 0 replies to the plenty of mail they had sent to different investors.

Lily: Not yet… literally no one has replied to the idea. Did you get any calls?

She asked as she turned around facing the male sitting in distance hoping for some good news

Aaron: None of them have called yet!

He said being a little disappointed as his whole day was spent running from here to there to find an investor who is interested to invest in his start-up idea.

Well this is how this 10 months old couple is busy spending their days. Instead of finding ways to each other’s heart they were busy finding investors. I know money cannot buy happiness but some people enjoy their life by just simply living and eating so for that food and shelter you gotta make money right?

Because that’s where you have found your happiness!

Aaron: Let’s have a little patience. I am sure soon one of them will call.

He said trying to stay a little more positive not only for him but also for his wife. Who held her head down while going back to her previous position, facing the computer screen.

Lily: we are just wasting our time making ourselves believe that one day a miracle will happen!

She whispered to herself.

Aaron: What do you mean by wasting?!

He asked in a bit of a surprised tone as he was confused about how she was thinking about their current situation.

Lily: It’s a total waste of time. It’s been months since we are trying to get an investor and no one till now has ever contacted any of us about how they think about investing.

She said being totally frustrated from waiting for replies as all this time all she got was zero replies.

Aaron: What are you saying!? It’s totally not a waste of time. We are trying our best so let’s patiently wait. Everything will turn out great.

He said, as he stood up from the bed and walked towards her chair and knelt down to talk to her.

Lily: let’s be patient! Let’s be patient! Please stop it, this is getting me frustrated. Daily you are saying this to keep us in hope!! And I am getting sick of it. Because this is a lie, we are just telling this to ourselves to have a little hope.

She said in a frustrated tone standing up from her chair and Her facial expressions showed that she was stressed out from work. Making Aaron worried about her.

Aaron: This is not a lie, we have to be patient and try our best to get a good result.

He said standing up and held her arms to make her look into his eyes.

Aaron: Look, you are stressed out from work so take some rest. I will be bringing coffee so let’s have it first then talk about this thing?... Okay!?

He said in a soft tone. While looking at her tired eyes as his eyes reflected nothing but a lot of care for her.

Lily: Okay…

She said in a low tone having zero energy. He patted her back a little signaling her to sit on bed as he went to make coffee.

Time skip

The noise of the door being closed waked her up from the deep sleep she was almost getting into

Aaron: Sorry I woke you up!

Lily: It’s okay I am a light sleeper.

She said assuring him.

Aaron: Here’s your hot coffee Madame!

He said handing the coffee to his Mrs, making a smile appear on her lips.

Lily: Thank you Monsieur!

His nose crunched at her reply, making her giggle.

Aaron sat beside her as he kept his hot chocolate on the side table to let it cool a bit.

Lily: it’s been a while since we sat like this. This start-up has kept us busy till the point we haven’t talked about something else which is not about this damn start-up idea. I sometimes miss those moments where it would be just us cuddling and having a little talk or just sitting in comfortable silence.

She said remembering those lovely moments she had in the first few months with her husband.

Aaron: Let’s cuddle then. It’s been a while already and I have heard that cuddling is the best way to reveal stress.

He spoke with a sweet smile on his, extended his arms signaling his wife to cuddle him. She kept the cup of coffee on the side table and climbed into his arms resting her head on his chest. They both sat there in a comfortable silence.

Lily: Aaron… ?

Aaron: Hmm.

Lily: I want to say something.

Aaron: What is it?

He said while caressing her hair

Lily: Actually… I am sorry!

Lily said facing Aaron while he was confused about why her were suddenly feeling sorry.

Aaron: Why suddenly sorry?

He said caressing her cheek as his dreamy eyes met her slightly teary eyes which made him slightly panic.

Aaron: What happened? Are you alright?

He asked as he slightly patted her cheeks because she was sitting still while looking at him. She closed her eyes while a tear rolled down her cheek. Making him more worried.

Lily: I am s-sorry… What I said earlier about the “waste of time” Thing, that must have hurted you.

She said feeling a little guilty about how her words turned out because she was stressed.

Aaron: Hey! It’s okay you were stressed… It’s not a big deal.

He said pulling her onto his lap and rubbing her back calming her down.

Lily: N-no but I-i shouldn’t have said that. And being patient should have been my basic goal… I am sorry

She said while sobbing on his chest. As he was still rubbing her back help her calm down.

Aaron: Hey, listen! It’s okay I assure you that it’s all right you don’t have to worry about this anymore as I have always said that to get a good result you should have the power of patience and perseverance. They are simple goals which anyone can identify with but persevering even in simple goals leads to achieving great personal milestones.

But patience does not mean that we wait for things to happen, as if we are expecting some miracle to occur. Rather let’s practice along with perseverance until we achieve what we set out to do.

The male said comforting the female who was feeling guilty about her outburst which happened due to her being stressed.

Aaron: Now imagine something new you would like to learn. You would set out to the 10,000 hour rule.

Which is :-

With 1 hour: we will have the basic introduction to the subject.

With 10 hour: we will gain a wider notion of the main concepts.

With 100 hours: we reach an intermediate level.

With 1000 hours: we become specialists.

With 10,000 hours we become masters of the subject.

So it’s okay if you felt like your patience was a waste of time. But from now on let’s be patient with perseverance!... Hmm?

He said making eye contact with her as his eyes reflected care and affection for her while her eyes had nothing but admiration for her husband who promised to be with her through her bad times and was fulfilling it. Feeling overwhelmed by the words she wrapped her arms around his while sitting on his lap pulling him into a bear hug. While Aaron buried his face in the crook of her neck and his arms secured around her waist

Lily: Thank you… thank you for everything!! I didn’t think that I wanted a certain type of person to be there for me. I just wish you were with me!

She said as he broke the hug, he lifted his one hand to caress her cheek while the other hand rested on her waist. He looked into her eyes and said.

Aaron: Who do you think you are going to spend your rest of your life with?

The male asked, leaving the female confused about what type of question.

Lily: You?

She said as from how she remembered that 10 months ago on the day of their marriage they promised to spend their rest of life with each other.

Aaron: No, Not like that! Like you, yourself and me, myself.

He said while chuckling at her innocent answer. And made her understand that she is going to spend the rest of her life by herself.

Lily: Oh! Like that.

She nodded as she understood what he meant by that.

Aaron: so, you need to take good care of yourself and fix yourself on your own. I really want to get along with myself, neither I want to love myself too much nor I want to be insecure about myself too much. So it’s important to work hard on balancing ourselves.

He said looking into her eyes while tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

Aaron: I want you too to believe in yourself a little more. So that we can have a long and healthy relationship.

He said with a smile on his face while she nodded her head understanding what he meant.

Lily: Okay! I will. I will try my best!

She said with enthusiasm, making him giggle at her. They both stayed silent for some second while admiring each other until Aaron’s gaze landed on her lips.

Aaron: How about a… kiss… to lighten the mood.

He said in a low voice not able to remove his gaze from her lips. she felt nervous as the last time they kissed was on their wedding day and after that there wasn’t much of a skinship between them. Getting no reply, Aaron decided to make the first move. He leaned in for the kiss…

Lily: Ohh right! Coffee and hot chocolate must have been cold by now.

She said backing off from the “about to happen kiss” While Aaron stared at her in disbelief as he scoffed, She chuckled looking at the sulking man throwing glare at her, must be thinking that his glare could make her scared but instead it made her laugh at how cute he looked right now.

Lily: Aww!

She said cupping his cheeks leaving a few pecks on his lips making him speak.

Aaron: That’s it!?

He said, raising his one eyebrow indicating a few pecks weren’t enough. Lily didn’t say anything while her gaze went to his lips, she leaned forward while wrapping her hands around his neck, she pressed her lips on his, she was about to kiss him but instead he captured her lips between his. Sucking her lips he devoured them, biting her lips he earned a gasp and slid his tongue into her mouth to taste every bit of her.

They both parted away to catch their breaths, resting their forehead against each other’s. Smiling ear to ear he spoke.

Aaron: I love us!

Smiling at what he said Lily replied,

I love us more!
