Hi there, sweetie. Are you okay?" Mia asked, her voice gentle. The little girl looked up at her, her eyes filled with tears. "I'm lost. I can't find my mommy," she said, her voice trembling. Mia felt a sense of panic rise in her chest, but she tried to remain calm. "Don't worry, sweetie. We'll help you find your mommy," she said, her voice soothing.

Chapter 1

Mia walked into her first day of junior year feeling anxious and nervous. She scanned the crowded hallway, searching for any familiar faces, but everyone seemed to be in their own little world. She sighed and adjusted the strap of her backpack, making her way to her first class.

As she entered the classroom, she saw that all the seats were already taken except for the one next to a boy with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He looked up from his phone and smiled at her as she approached.

"Hey, you can sit here if you want," he said, gesturing to the empty seat.

Mia hesitated for a moment, unsure if she wanted to sit next to a stranger, but decided she had no other choice. "Thanks," she said, taking a seat and pulling out her notebook.

"I'm Ethan," the boy said, extending his hand.

"Mia," she replied, shaking his hand.

"So, how's your first day going so far?" Ethan asked, trying to make small talk.

"It's okay, I guess," Mia replied, shrugging her shoulders. "I'm just trying to survive junior year."

Ethan chuckled. "Yeah, it can be tough. But I'm sure you'll do great."

Mia smiled, feeling a little more at ease. She had never been good at making friends, but Ethan seemed nice enough.

The teacher walked in, and the class settled down as he began the lesson. Mia tried to focus on what he was saying, but her mind kept wandering back to Ethan.

After class, they walked out of the classroom together. "Hey, do you want to grab lunch together?" Ethan asked, flashing a smile.

Mia felt a flutter in her stomach. She had never been asked out to lunch by a boy before. "Sure," she said, trying to hide her excitement.

As they walked to the cafeteria, they continued to chat and get to know each other better. Mia felt like she had found someone she could actually connect with.

Maybe junior year wouldn't be so bad after all.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
