in the dark

It was a dark and stormy night. A couple walked the weathered and rundown dirt road. Not knowing where it led but they didn’t care this was the first time in a month that they could be alone. Continuing their stroll they came across a beat-up old shack. The rain grows stronger and the sky darkens looking back at the shack the man decides it would be a good place to wait out the storm. Stepping into the door an eerie feeling overcomes the man noticing the newly lit fire slowly burning to illuminate the shack with light shadows slowly covering the walls the woman knows that this shack holds more than the eye sees. The door creaks slowly as it closes. the man stands in front of the fire letting his eyes wander around the room as if searching for something noticing the dark figure sitting in the back of the room he starts feeling a darkness surrounding them. “run” Michal yells at the television set. “come on man you are a scaredy cat.” Tommy says “Just watch the movie and eat your popcorn.” Michal’s eyes wander through the darkness of the theater noticing that no one else was there. ” do you notice anything out of the ordinary Tommy?” Michal asks “It was packed just a sec ago” Tommy looks around “Ya I wonder what happened.” The screen cuts off leaving them in the dark.

“shouldn’t the lights have come on by now?” Tommy asks...

Moving through the dark they make their way out of the theater. stepping out onto the street pitch black darkness surrounds them. fires burn in the distance cars are abandoned and flipped over. no one, no sounds, no people.
