Chapter 1.
Tanranran! Tanranran! I heard a loud sound beside me. I blinked my eyes and realized it was dawn. Definitely it was the alarm that woke me up. I checked the time, it's 6:00 am. I rested on the pillow to sleep till 6:30 am but my mind told me to stand up or else I would wake up by 8:00am and if I should do that, I should forget about the interview. I stood up angrily and went straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth and have my bathe. I already picked my clothes that I would wear a day before, so I prepared toast bread and hot tea so my voice will be so clear during the interview. I chose to eat first so i won't stain my beautiful dress. I ate and by then it was 6:47am. I rushed into the bedroom to dress up, i was about to dress up but to my surprise the top was so tight that I could not wear it. I had to disorganize my wardrobe to try different clothes on. Finally, I got a fitted gown but had to iron it. So, luckily for me there was light. I did that and by then I was sweating like a sallah goat. I dressed up quickly, apply light make up on my face and make use of the wig, I wore a flat black shoe and vanished from the house. I left the house by 7:14am. I boarded a bus but to my surprise the bus was moving like a snail, I got angry. I checked my time repeatedly and had to alight down from the bus to board another one. The interview was by 8:00 am and I have to be there before the exact time. I boarded another bus; the bus was moving fast but it has to stop to carry passengers on the way, it was then I realized my village people are seriously working over my life.
I had to endure that till I get to the office. I gave the bus conductor money and waited for him to give me my change, he denied I did not give him any money earlier. I had to fight but to no avail and I have no other money on me. I planned on using the change I will collect from the bus conductor to board a bus back home. I alighted from the bus angrily and I had to calm down before I enter the office so I won't loose the job. I got inside and I saw different people who came for the interview; among all of them, I did not know any one. I had to leave everything in God's hand. I have my mother and two siblings to feed because I am the first born, I lost my father when I was in my secondary school, I had to cater for the family at least to support my mother. I got to the interviewer, they were three. They asked for my name, my curriculum vitae, my working experience and promised to get back to me.
On my way home, I mistakingly fell into a small pit and I was stained but I was happy after all it was not before the interview. I received a call from one of my customers to make a birthday cake for her. I learnt catering after I graduated and there was no job opportunities. I was good and get contract almost every week for wedding ceremony. I had to start the preparation of the cake.
