Ch. 1- He's an Angel

Rosie POV

The sunlight from my blinds crept through my bedroom. I squinted my eyes from the light. I looked at the clock on my nightstand.

8:50 am

My shop opens up at 10 am. I achieved waking up 10 minutes before my alarm. I deserve a cookie. I slide out of bed and walk out of my room and next door to the bathroom.

I proceed to do my routine. By 9:50 am, I was ready. I decided on high-waisted shorts with a white tee and brown cardigan and my white high-top Converse.

Then I let my mullet hair speak for itself. I even did my makeup as well. I just feel something good is going to happen today. I walked into my kitchen and started to make my iced coffee. I toasted a bagel and spread it with cream cheese and grape jelly.

I stuffed my mouth with the bagel. I hurried and washed the dishes I used. I carried my large bottle of iced coffee to my front door. I grabbed my keys from the wall and locked up my little house. I walked down the hall and down the spiral stairs. Then I was welcome to my Garden of Eden. All my babies waiting for my help. I put the chain up over the stairs so people won’t go up. I walked to the front door and flipped the closed sign to open. I looked at the time on my phone. 10 am. Just on time.

Rosie’s Little Sanctuary. I opened up a gardening store after I graduate from college with my Horticultural degree. As a little girl, I always loved nature and cared for many plants. I always thought of plants as my friends. Which is kind of sad and why I barely had friends.

I mainly sell seeds, plants I planted, flowers, remedies, salves from my plants, pots, fertilizers, gardening tools, and little candies upfront. I usually eat them, I’ve got a sweet tooth.

I put my coffee down behind the front desk of my shop. I got to work on my daily tasks for the day until a customer comes.

Watering my plants. Fertilizing my plants. Cleaning. Checking deliveries for certain customers. Checking stock and shipment for seeds.

The bell rang and my favorite customer came in

“Hi Rosie,” She said in her cute little voice

“Hi Mrs. Clover, the usual for today?” Ms. Clover is a cute old lady who has been coming to my shop since it opened up two years ago.

“You know me so well honey” I went and grabbed the fertilizer for her garden and salve, she usually gets her granddaughter who has eczema. I got back to the cash register and started to check her out.

“Is Lina’s eczema getting better with the salves?”

“Oh yes dear, she doesn’t feel self-conscious as much as she was before”

“Good, tell her I said hi for me.” I put her items in a bag and gave her it with the receipt.

“Don’t work too hard in the garden Mrs. Clover”

“Yes, dearie, and you too” I nodded and waved her goodbye. The day went smoothly as per usual until my annoyance wandered into my store.

“Hey Rosie,” Bobby said while he leaned on my front counter. I say he is my annoyance because he comes into my store and makes me uncomfortable with his flirting.

“Hello Bobby, are you buying something today?” He shook his head and started to mess around with the stuff on my counter. I walked around the counter and decided to check on my flowers outside the front of the store. I brought my watering can and headed out but the annoyance was following me.

“Are you free after your shop closes?”

“I don’t know Bobby” I started watering from the top of my displays to the bottom.

Bobby kept on pestering me about when I would be done with work and watering my flowers. My anger started to fester in my chest till someone intervened.

“Dude she obviously isn’t into you,” A husky voice said behind me. Bobby turned around and looked at the source of the voice. I continued to water my plants.

“Stay out of our business dude”

“I could feel the anger radiating off of her while you nagged her like a little puppy dude, back off of her, she ain’t interested,” The husky voice said. I sniggered at the puppy part. It’s true.

“Do you wanna go, man?” Bobby said to the voice. I didn’t want any fighting going on so I set my can down and turned to Bobby.

“Bobby please leave, no fighting is allowed around here” Bobby looked down at me, groaned, and left but he walked forward and bumped into the man’s shoulder but it wasn’t successful because he grimaced in my pain while he walked off. I finally noticed the man and he was gorgeous.

Curly blond hair, big brown eyes, and a skinny but muscular build. He was wearing a gray hoodie and black jeans and some Converse but he still looked so good in the simple outfit. I noticed he was checking me out as well and giving my stomach butterflies.

I have no experience with men in my 23 years of life.

“Hey you okay, want me to beat up the guy for you?” He asked me

“No thank you, I really don’t like violence” He nodded then pulled a red lollipop out of his hoodie pocket.

“What’s your name?” He asked me as he put the lollipop in his mouth

“Rosie” He smiled and popped the lollipop out of his mouth

“Suits you, you blush red like a rose, Rosie” I blushed even harder and he laughed a little.

“You work here?” He motioned to my shop.

“I own this place” He looked up at the shop again and hit his forehead.

“Duhh it says Rosie’s Little Sanctuary” I laughed and he looked back at me with a little smile.

“Well I’ll see you around Rosie, if that douche comes back here, I’ll come to the rescue” I nodded and waved goodbye to the man while he walked away down the street.

I finished watering my flowers. Walked back inside the shop and realized I had never asked the guy’s name.

“Oh tarter sauce” I whispered to myself. It was drawing near the closing time for my shop. So I did my end-of-day work and officially flipped the sign to close. I locked up the store and headed back to my humble abode.

I started to brew a cup of my favorite tea, vanilla chai. While I was waiting for my coffee machine to start up, I ended up stubbing my toe against the kitchen cabinet. It made me drop my glass. It was my favorite cup too. My anger started to fester in my chest, it was burning feel in my chest but l did my exercise and took deep breaths in and out while counting down with my fingers.

I embarrassingly enough had anger problems as a child. My mom had me go through many forms of therapy to get it under control.

By the time I was done with my exercise, the coffee machine was done warming up. I cleaned up the glass and cried on the inside of my cup being gone. I’ll just go out and buy another one. I grabbed a new cup and started brewing my tea till my phone started to ring on the counter.

I picked up the phone without looking at the caller ID.

“Hello?”

“Come to the club with me” I groaned out loud. It was my best friend, Lottie. We were roommates all throughout college and it has been history ever since.

“You know I don’t do clubs like that”

“Well I haven’t seen you lately, I wanna hangout with my bestie”

“Lottie I saw you yesterday”

“THAT DON’T COUNT, I’M TALKIN' ABOUT NOW” I finished brewing my tea and brought it out to the living room. I sat down on my couch and whined in the phone.

“I’ll even bribe you with your favorite tea” I perked up at the offer.

“Get me a new mug and the tea and I’ll go” She went silent on the line but I could hear her screaming muffled into her pillows. She does that a lot when she is frustrated or mad.

“Fine, get your ass dressed and I’ll come pick you up” We said our goodbyes and I love you’s and ended the call. I finished my cup of tea and washed the dish. I headed up my spiral stairs to my bedroom and looked in my closet.

What do I wear?

My Blacksmith Savior

Vampire: Great story. Clear plot line and very interesting. Characters are lovely and well made. Amazing writing skills and grammar. Only thing that was a little bit too much is the repetition but I guess it's a writing style? Anyways I love it definitely recommend it!
