Chapter one. “Rich People Problems”
About to pull him into a kiss I stopped and smiled.
"Is there a problem?" the boy looked into my eyes watching as my smile faded and turned into horror.
"Your eyes are blue." I responded while stepping back and watching as his eyes glitched from brown to blue quickly.
"First day of school get up c'mon!" a woman's voice faded into my head. I jerked awake.
"Oh my god get up we cant have another year late again Savannah." My mother stared at me angrily.
"Okay okay get out!" She stomped out of the room. I got up and walked over to my walk-in closet to think about what to wear.
"And remember you're walking home because your dad and I have our flight to Malan at 2:15!" my mother yelled through the door. I put on a skin-tight white laced tank top and a brown tennis skirt to match my beige sneakers after brushing my teeth and healthy, waist length hair.
"God I need a haircut." I mumbled it quietly but I guess somehow my mom heard.
"I'll leave some extra money then." Of course she would try to spoil me in order to make up for the fact she was leaving for months at a time. Why wouldn't she want to give her only child thousands of dollars to care for herself at 16? Yeah my grandma would visit once a month but that's just to make sure i'm not dead. I could probably leave a note on the fridge saying I was taking a nap and she wouldn't find my body for a decade.
When I had finished preparing myself for the first day of school both mentally and physically it was time to say my goodbyes to mom and dad.
"I'll miss you guys." I stated while hugging my mom. I barely meant it but I'd want someone to say it to me.
After their uber drove away I began walking to school. Of course I didn't want to go but it's the first day I should at least get introduced. I especially want to go to see Ezra, my boyfriend of two years. Our stupid school always has the first week be one day long. They say it's 'fun' that way but they do it to make the year longer. While walking I double checked my schedule and looked at what Ezra said his was. Exactly what I had thought. Zero classes together. Not even lunch. Ever since we got caught holding hands in class everyones been weird. It's like the school wants no contact or something. I mean come on, were nearly adults for god's sake we cant even hold hands? I keep reminding myself just a few more years left but it never helps.
English, chemistry, and health were boring. Obviously, the one slightly disturbing class I have is right before lunch. At least I got to see Ezra in between classes though. Two of our other friends, Mia and Luke tried to convince me that because I'm the only girl on Earth whose parents wouldn't be home I should throw a party. No apparent reason though, just so bunch of people I don't know can get wasted and trash my house. So there it was. After the last bell rings almost everyone at school would rush over to my place like I had the last drop of water on the planet. I kind of didnt want to host a party but no matter what I could say nothing would change their minds. Whatever though anything to make my friends and Ezra happy.
