Prologue
This story is dedicated to all returning Veterans as well as all others suffering in arduous times, in less than desirable circumstances; presented in the non-romanticized reality of that time, in those circumstances. As a nation and a society, we have all changed so much and come so far, with so far still to go. My truest hope is that this story captures those moments for the benefit of all our futures.
I’ve considered the impact and potential fallout of possibly being misunderstood
and condemned by the “politically correct” with much thought to that potential.
The point of this story is not to instigate; rather to inform and encourage the reader to think about situations they may never have considered or experienced.
My hopes are that perhaps some of the adamant racists, on either side of the issue, that might read this story, just might walk a mile in the “other guy’s” shoes.
Concerning the aspects of what returning Veterans face is the reality of adjustment, acclimation and psychological conflict that they must embrace. There is a terrible void due to two societal classes, the ones that don’t serve and the one’s that by choice or need had to serve.
Rappers and Activists will probably find this story nothing more than “ho hum”; but they have in my opinion overlooked the core that I think this touches upon. Personal respect; both directed and perceived are at issue.
Another aspect this story addresses forthrightly is the psychological, possible mindset and decision to carry an open or concealed weapon and the confrontations one faces in those circumstances, with the devastating potentials to be considered.
The ghettos exist throughout our nation and the world; people still use whatever means that are at hand to change their lot in life. Mindsets are set in concrete for those focused upon a means to escape their personal existence or hold on to what they have achieved.
Something I’ve always intended to address seems to fit in this particular observation. Numbers Ch. 12 v. 1; an issue that is never brought up or even
slightly acknowledged in the more “appropriate” circles of society. Food for
thought and possibly a partial explanation as to “why” portions of the Jewish culture have consistently attempted assistance toward the less fortunate.
This story is based upon true events. With these slight additional observations I now offer you: insight and life experience and hopefully thought provoking entertainment.
