Preface
This is the fourth book in the Elemental Magic series. The first three were a trilogy, with a unifying story arc. This is different, a self-contained story, although clearly tied closely to the first three books. While I tried to make it a novel that can be enjoyed on its own, it does have a lot that makes more sense if you read the first three. It is a look at a “normal” witch joining the East Texas coven, although she is not really all that normal.
And it is very different in another way, because the main character of this novel is very much modeled on a real person. She is a friend I made through social media, and after some discussions I asked her permission to create a fictional version of her. She read my first draft of most of the parts of the book about her, and seemed genuinely pleased with how it turned out. I think Claire is very close to her in many ways. Well, except the magic.
Or maybe not.
