Chapter 1
“Mom, I am getting late!”
“Honey, just 5 minutes. Tell your aunt to call me back, as soon as she receives the packet.”
“Mom! Fine.”
I left home, without even closing the door!
I am Annie. A final year engineering student from Roland Science and Engineering Institute. Today, I have a very important conference for which I have been preparing for two months. My team is looking up for this day. I can’t be late today.
After leaving my aunt’s house, I ran towards my campus. I was in front of the main gate, then I heard Freya calling me from the opposite side of the road! Freya is my best friend.
“Hey, sleepy head! you are late again?”
I crossed the highway in front of the campus.
As I was road crossing, it came to my mind that, recently, I am having nightmares about car accidents. Although I never faced a car accident before. But a flashy image of car accident incedent keeps popping into my dream, which feels almost real. Every time, I have this dream, I feel my heart aching. It’s getting more and more frequent nowadays! I am planning to have a doctor’s appointment, over this. But I am too busy nowadays, that I barely have time for seeing doctor.
Freya showed me a concert ticket. The winter festival is coming soon. Every year a concert takes place in our institute around this time. But this year...
“Isn’t it a bit early this year?”
“Yeah. It’s indeed a bit early this time. Anyways, I heard this year Huan Joye is going to perform at this event too.”
Freya is a die heart fan of Huan Joye. He debuted in a boy’s band three years ago.
Freya was so excited about the concert that, she didn’t even notice that a car was coming. I threw her on the island of the road. But unfortunately, I fell under the car...
It’s so dark here. Am I dead already? What is this place? I only remember throwing Freya, on the island of the road.
“Is she dead?”
I heard someone’s voice. But my lips are stiff, I can’t even move them. After trying for a while, I couldn’t even make a single sound. Did I become paralyzed?
“She is in a temporary coma.”
This might be the doctor here. I heard some familiar voices around me. They all were worried about me.
Suddenly, all the voices around me started to become blurry. I couldn’t hear them anymore! Then after a while, I heard someone saying,
“Hey, you woke up?“, it’s a girl’s voice.
“What is this place?”
“It’s inside your dream. You are in a coma in your real life.”
She can hear my thoughts. The area around me is so dark, I can't see anything clearly! A girl in a whit dress is standing in front of me, about 4 feet apart. I can’t see her clearly. She is holding something in her lap. What is it?
“It’s a lamb, my pet. She is called Cherri”
But, who is she? Is this another nightmare of mine?
“You know my name? Who are you? What do you want?”
“I am Zeeni. I know everything about you.”
Zeeni moved a little bit closer. She smells like Jasmine. Who is she, actually?
“I saved you. You were about to die. But you're destined for someone. You can't die before that."
"What destiny? Who are you talking about?"
"You will meet someone soon, Annie. That person is very lonely. But he is very kind. He won’t hurt you. Hope, you can change your destiny this time!”
I don't ge what she is saying. But I do need to know what happed to me.
“Zeeni, when will I wake up?”
She paused for a moment. Then said,
“It may take some time, you were almost dead. You had heavy bleeding in your brain. Doctors are trying their best to save you!”
Really? What kind of bad luck did I have today? I had a bright future in front of me. Now? I am stuck here!
I was really heartbroken. I was planning to support my Mom, after my graduation. Now, I am in this state. I can’t imagine how devastated she is feeling right now!
No! I don’t believe her. This must be a dream!
But again! This dream feels so real.
“Annie, Instead of getting bored here, let me send you somewhere. I promise it will be worth your visit!”
Then, it’s dark agian. She left, just like that! Don’t know how long do I have to stay in this darkness?
I didn’t even agree with Zeeni. What is this girl up to? Most importantly, why is it happening to me?
It must be my illusion. I am in a coma. Right! I am just dreaming right now. Nothing serious!
But I was wrong!
I don’t remember when I lost consciousness. The moment I woke up, everything has already changed!
8 o’clock. Haiyen City.
I heard sounds coming from the TV. It’s probably about a superstar joining a concert arranged by some high school students. The report says something about Roland Institute.
But, it’s a hospital. Who is listening to the news at such a loud volume?
I turned to another side of the bed and put a pillow over my head to stop the sound from coming in, then again fall asleep!
But, wait. I was in a coma. How could I turn around? I could even move my body inside the quilt!
what’s happening? Did I wake up from the coma?
I tried to look outside the quilt and discovered myself in a bedroom. And it’s a man’s room!
What the heck? Zeeni, didn’t mean to meet a man, did she?
It doesn’t matter now. What matters now is, I need to get out of this place. If the owner of the house, sees me here, he would definitely hand me over to the police, for braging into his personal space.
I jumped off the bed. As I was about to twist the door-knob, I heard someone talking. It must be the owner of the house. As expected it’s a man. He was talking over the phone about attending a Gala event this afternoon.
Can’t believe, he is coming this way! I wish I could just disappear!
Wait!
Since I have come to a different universe, I must have some superpower, right? At least some basic ones for survival! I really don’t want to get caught now!
