Chapter 1: Visiting

I remember the first time I visited Universe ECR-1B on personal business. Oh, by the way, Hello there! My name is Austin Overton, and I am a normal person. Eh, partly normal. I am normal in the sense that I walk, eat, sleep, run, speak, write, et cetera, et cetera, but I am not totally normal in the sense that I go through entirely different universes changing timelines and stopping paradoxes from destroying the entire existence of anything ever. So, yeah, partly normal.

Anyway, my first ever mission with my organization was to ECR-1B, and, if you aren't a nerd, ECR-1B is another word for the universe and timeline where the events of the manga, "Erased", is reality. Basically, it's the universe where you can find Satoru Fujinuma or Kayo Hinazuki and it isn't on a page or on a screen, they would literally be there. After the mission, I returned here to the core universe, my cover up was returning to America, which wasn't a lie, but it was only partly true. I wrote to Satoru several times over the past weeks. Why write? Well, there isn't an interuniversal phone line or anything like that, so I have to write. How to you write to a different universe? You throw your letter into the portal. Dumb and simple.

I stepped into the pod that transported people into different universes. The technician pressed the button, and I was transported into the other universe. I looked around. I was in an airport. A passport was in my pocket, as well as a key I had not had before, along with $500 worth of Japanese Yen. I read the signs. It was an airport in Hokkaido, which was right on target.

I walked to a residential street which I had been told there was a house that was purchased by Multiverse Mischief (My organization) and was made out in my name. I pulled the key from my pocket and opened the door. I looked around inside. It was nicely furnished. I looked across the street. A familiar face walked outside, but he was not a friend. Gaku Yashiro. That bastard! Why would he be here? I caught him fair and square! There was all the proof!

In case you don't know, Yashiro was the one who almost destroyed this universe in the form of creating a paradox that would have killed everyone. The paradox occurred when Yashiro tried to kill Satoru by drowning him in a river. It was down to me and Satoru's friend, Kayo, to stop this. We were successful. I had called the police and they had arrived so I'm surprised Yashiro didn't end up in prison. I started over to the door but stopped myself. No, I thought, I'm here on personal business, I just want to see my friends. This is not the time to go and fight that idiot. Of course, all that was on my mind was fighting that idiot. But like I've already said, this is no time for that.
