Chapter 1
Lacey Easton was packing up the car. Her brother Shawn and his wife Tara were there. Shawn was her big brother and protector. He didn’t like her boyfriend and she knew it but he only tolerated him for her sake. Alex was offered a job in Seattle so she was going with him to help him get settled before she came back to get her stuff. He had to be there right away while her job wouldn’t be ready for another month. She was going to fly back and finish packing the house they have in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
“I wish you weren’t doing this,” Shawn said.
“Shawn,” Lacey said.
“You know I don’t like him,” Shawn said.
“Yes I know but I love him and he treats me good,” Lacey said.
“Babe,” Tara said.
“I love you sis and I don’t want you getting hurt,” Shawn said.
“Hey we should hit the road,” Alex said.
“Okay, Shawn, lock up please,” Lacey said.
“Just be careful okay and call when you can,” Shawn said.
“I will, love you bro and sis,” Lacey said. She hugged them and got into the car. Shawn looked at Alex and went to the house. Alex got into the car and drove away.
